107w ago - SCEE's James Gallagher has shared an interview today with Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software on the upcoming PS3 version of Duke Nukem Forever.
To quote: "It's like shaking hands with Bigfoot or riding the Loch Ness monster," said Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford when talking about finally releasing Duke Nukem Forever.
Look up the term 'vaporware' and Duke Nukem Forever will likely be used as an example, but it's real and it's coming to U.S. PS3s in less than two weeks. I caught up with Randy to ask why you should always bet on Duke.
Duke is an all-American hero with the Stars and Stripes featuring heavily in the game's art style, but characters like that haven't always been so popular internationally. Why is Duke an exception?
It's because Duke is a caricature of all that - it's silly! Duke Nukem takes place 12 years after Duke saved the world and he has leveraged that to live like a king. He's walked on the moon, climbed Everest... he's done it all.
The only thing bothering him is that they were supposed to make a video game about him saving the world and it has taken 12 years for them to finish it. I think it's that angle that makes it work internationally because we parody...
120w ago - PlayStation Home Community Manager Locust_Star has announced today that PlayStation Home is adding a suite of new Developer Tools and Tech to the version 1.5 update.
To quote: Today, at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, we lifted the veil on PlayStation Home's version 1.5, which will be coming to your PS3s in early spring.
The update will introduce a suite of new technology with tools that will enhance your experience with real-time multiplayer, improved physics, as well as more realistic graphics and animations. PlayStation Home v1.5 was developed with one singular goal in mind: high-quality games.
Developers will utilize the improved network mechanics to bolster the multiplayer experience with the fastest action available. With the revamped physics engine, developers will carry more control over physics elements, graphics, rendering and animations, which will translate to more realistic and more intricate game experiences.
This update is significantly different from what you, the PlayStation Home community, have come to expect from past core client updates.
While versions 1.3 and 1.4 brought user-facing features like Voice Chat, Cross Game Invites, Navigation Improvements, In-Store Previews, New Item Types...
To quote: 3.56 Version Spoofer does exactly what it says and can restore back to 3.55 if needed. It was never intended to allow PSN access but to stop the system from updating to 3.56 (I made it shortly after KaKaRoToKS had his false alarm).
Once the PS3 is spoofed it will stay spoofed until it is uninstalled.
124w ago - Today Hideki has released what he calls Simple PS3 Proxy, a PSN Firmware version bypass application which functions similar to the other PSN bypass methods.
Download: Simple PS3 Proxy
From the ReadMe file: Set on your PS3 a web proxy of (PC IP) port 8080
IE: if the machine you are to be running this proxy on is 192.168.0.12 then put that as the IP and 8080 as the port in the PS3 network configuration for your web proxy.
If 3.56 is still current, just run the app and click start. If 3.60 or later is now out, change the 3.5600 value in required PS3 version to 3.6000 or similar.
As long as the PS3 is correctly configured and this app is running, you will be signed in. This is licensed under version 2 of the GNU public licence, see license.txt for details. Source code is included in the archive in /src

125w ago - Today trueicecold has released a PC application formerly dubbed PS3 Game Detector which is now called PS3 Game Updater and allows users to identify and grab updates for their PlayStation 3 game backups.
It fetches the list of the game names in your specified backups directories with an option of finding the latest update to the those games.
To quote: A small program I created, to make it easier for users download updates for their games.
This program will scan you backed up games folder (On your computer, not PS3), show details about each game, and give you the option to download updates for your games, all at once by your choice (deselect the checkboxes on the left to remove a game from the update list).
+ Added "Collapse/Expand" button to expand all updates.
+ Downloading an update will also show progress in the game column itself, so no need to expand it
