The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct PS3 Out Now, What We Learned

50°
84w ago - Terminal Reality Creative Director Drew Haworth has announced that The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct for PS3 is out now with details below.

To quote: When we became aware of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct opportunity with Activision and AMC, we leapt on it. We devised a first-person survival-horror strategy approach and pitched it.

Our game was planned as a labor of love: an endeavor to create a relatively intimate The Walking Dead game experience for fans like us... as well as players new to the series who were looking for a different type of zombie game. Our goal was to create an authentic and compelling experience worthy of the name.

Since then, of course, Telltale has released all the amazing episodes of their deserved Game of the Year, and AMC's series has consistently shattered broadcast television records! So while 'pressure' may be an understatement, we've stayed the course.

And Activision and AMC have been steadfast, wonderful partners in us making the game we set out to make in the first place: a new type of zombie game experience for players that want to take on The Walking Dead's world for a while!

Here are some of the lessons the team learned while developing The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, which is out today on PS3!
I was skeptical,...

Video: The Walking Dead - Episode 5: No Time Left Hits PSN Tomorrow

50°
101w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has announced that The Walking Dead Episode 5: No Time Left hits PSN tomorrow alongside a fresh video trailer below.

To quote: It's all been leading up to this! Tomorrow, [Register or Login to view links] releases what they've dubbed the "season finale" of The Walking Dead, which I suppose bodes well for the possibility of future installments.

For me, Telltale's series represents the best of the adventure genre, with likeable characters, grim scenarios, and a player-guided narrative.

I've made no secret that The Walking Dead has quickly become one of my favorite gaming experiences of the year, and I'm dying to see how Lee Everett's final chapter plays out in this companion piece to Robert Kirkman's much-loved graphic novel series.

(Spoiler) Sad to say that Kenny won't be joining me on the final journey, though. What about you? Who are you taking with you?

Video: The Walking Dead: Episode 4 Coming Soon, New PS3 Trailer

108w ago - Today Writer Gary Whitta has confirmed that The Walking Dead: Episode 4 - Around Every Corner is coming soon alongside a new video trailer and screens below.

To quote: Congratulations. You've made it. You've survived. This far.

If you're reading this blog, that means you've probably already played the first three installments of [Register or Login to view links]' episodic video game adaptation of Robert Kirkman's never-ending zombie epic The Walking Dead. And you've been put through an emotional meat grinder unparalleled in interactive storytelling.

You've had to deal not just with the dead rising up, but with the living brought low as the scattered and desperate survivors of the zombie apocalypse have struggled to hold onto their humanity under impossible pressure.

You've seen murder, cannibalism, fear, paranoia, insanity, betrayal, and even the tragic death of an innocent child. And all I can say to you after all that is, I'm sorry. Because it's about to get worse. Much worse.

At the close of Episode 3, Lee Everett and his fellow survivors were just about to arrive by train in Savannah, where Kenny, distraught after the recent loss of his wife and son, has pinned all his hopes on finding a boat that can carry the group to safety.

Sony Announces The Walking Dead: Episode 3 Hits PSN Today

100°
113w ago - Director Eric Parsons at Long Road Ahead has announced that The Walking Dead: Episode 3 is officially hitting PSN today!

Below are the details, to quote: We continue to be blown away by how much people want each new installment of The Walking Dead. As soon as we get an episode out the door, we're immediately hit with people wanting to know when the next one will hit.

It's incredible and we're so grateful for everyone's excitement and support. Today we can confirm that The Walking Dead: Episode Three - Long Road Ahead will launch August 28th (today!) on PlayStation Network in North America.

We've been hard at work making sure this installment will put players through the emotional wringer in this morally grey story set in the world of Robert Kirkman's comic book series.

Episode Three - Long Road Ahead is going to push some truly mind-warping decisions on you. A zombie apocalypse is horrific not only because of the undead, but also because of the depths that humanity will sink to in desperate times. You're going to have to choose paths that I don't think have ever really been explored in a video game before. I can't help but wince with the knowledge of many of the choices we've created for you to make.

This is our most emotionally turbulent episode yet,...

Sony Details The Walking Dead: 9 Minutes With Robert Kirkman

300°
114w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has shared details today on PSN title The Walking Dead as part of a 9-minute interview with Robert Kirkman.

Below are the details, to quote: Like many of you, I'm eagerly awaiting news on the release date of the third episode of Telltale Games' superb PSN series The Walking Dead, a game that is intimately connected to the grim world of Robert Kirkman's celebrated comic series.

I've long wondered just how involved Kirkman was with Telltale's hit game series, so when I got a chance to interview him during Gamescom in Germany last week, I dropped by bratwurst and Kolsch and picked up the phone.

I first met Kirkman during an [Register or Login to view links] for the late, great GamePro and, as always, the man is nothing if not humble about his considerable creative achievements.

He modestly described The Walking Dead's surge into mainstream pop culture as "a wild ride," and expressed great satisfaction with Telltale's work on the game.

My chat with Kirkman was short (he's a busy man!) but it yielded some fascinating insights into the creative processes behind one of the biggest properties in comics, TV, and gaming.
