129w ago - After creating Simple AVCHD Manager - the first AVCHD manager for a jailbroken PS3 - some of the other programs I have been exploring had the requirement for a file selection screen in common, so i decided to create a simple file manager utilising a pointer like Multiman and added some other useful functions.
132w ago - Following up on his previous work, this weekend Spanish PS3 developer PS3MrEnigma has released source code for a PS3 tool that can be used to test and obtain model version data (20/40/60/80 etc) on various PlayStation 3 systems.
To quote, roughly translated: "In this post I introduce a small tool that will allow us to know more about the model of our machines.
The usefulness of this tool is simply to show on screen the data returned by the SYSCALL 0 Ã-- 363 with the parameter 0 Ã-- 19004 to get the model and submodel, make that application to accurately check all machines possible that the data. We returned in byte 5 and byte 7 always correspond in the case of same model and submodel machine.
Bearing in mind that I could only have access to 4 machines when performing the post explaining the SYSCALL 0 Ã-- 363 , which is why as many people can give their feedback or report on the blog with the data and specifying what type of machine has (Slim or Phat, and submodel (60, 40, etc)) together with the data we created the tool would be easier to...

154w ago - It's been awhile since the last PlayStation 3 FCC Reveal, but today the sleuths at Engadget.com (linked above) have uncovered new PS3 Slim Retail and PS3 Debug models via FCC just before E3 arrives.
To quote: "PlayStation 3 models CECH-2501A and CECH-2501B are both certified for 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR differing only in hard disk drive configurations.
We're also seeing a pair of PS3 DECH-2500A and DECH-S2500A debugging stations - interesting since a debug unit is typically only required when there's been a change in the chips on the motherboard. Feel free to speculate as we prepare for E3 to kick off on June 15th."
155w ago - Today PS3 Debug Firmware version 3.21 has been added to our PS3 Debug Firmware Archive thanks to an anonymous nice guy, and although it removes OtherOS functionality (like the Retail counterpart did) PlayStation 3 Test unit owners can downgrade to restore OtherOS functionality!
For those who are new to PS3 Debug (DECH) machines or haven't been following our Site News as long, PS3 Test Special Downgrade PUPs were leaked from Sony which allow downgrading the PS3 to version 1.00 or 1.50 (depending on which is used) to restore OtherOS, and then the console can be updated to the PS3 Debug Firmware required to play PS3 game backups.
Perhaps if Sony allowed Retail PS3 systems to downgrade like PS3 Debug/Test machines can there would be...
