Video: Stellar Attack Heads to PS3 and PSP Minis via PSN

225w ago - Laughing Jackal Senior Producer Al Evans has revealed today along with a video trailer that Stellar Attack is heading to PS3 and PSP Minis via PSN.

To quote: I'm pleased to announce that [Register or Login to view links] first PlayStation minis title, [Register or Login to view links], is to be released on the PSN Store on June 1st for the PSP and PS3.

Stellar Attack is an homage to classic shoot-em-up [Register or Login to view links], and is also inspired by a range of action-puzzle games, featuring a mix of score-chasing puzzles, fast action and precision targeting.

Here's some background to the game (featuring the best story I could think of in under five minutes!):

Deep in space, a lost starfighter is trapped by a series of evil turrets; turrets that are generating a purple energy field which is preventing the starfighter from returning home.

To make things more difficult, these evil robo-turrets surround themselves with vast strings of protective coloured orbs. Using its multicoloured laser, our intrepid starfighter must blast a path through the orbs to destroy the turrets in each...

232w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared a Q&A video with Telltale Games today covering Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse for PS3.

To quote: The [Register or Login to view links] is making its first foray onto PS3 next Thursday, April 15. I think I speak for us all when I say, "It's about dang time!"

The third season of Sam & Max - The Devil's Playhouse - hits PSN next week with Episode 1: The Penal Zone. If you're not familiar with the [Register or Login to view links] style of play, it's all based on an episodic adventure game structure where story drives the gameplay.

To break down the fine details, listen to what director and writer Chuck Jordan has to say about the premiere on PS3 in the video below.

You can [Register or Login to view links] the entire five-episode series now for $29.99, which secures all five installments for a $5 discount.

Visually speaking, I think we're in line for the best version of Sam & Max yet. But hey, I'm biased. Now go tell Telltale we want [Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links]!

TellTale Programmer: iPhone is Much More Powerful Than Wii

250°
268w ago - The Wii isn't the most powerful piece of hardware out there. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are more powerful, but Nintendo's machine is still putting up a fight.

Now Telltale Games has come into the picture and trashed the Wii's horsepower because of some complaints that the Wii version of Monkey Island has some framerate problems.

To quote: A Telltale Games programmer going by the name of Yare on the [Register or Login to view links] had this to say:

"The voices and textures are the way they are because we're limited to 40 megs for WiiWare titles. The PC versions of our games are usually 150+ megs, and most modern games range anywhere from 1-10 gigabytes or more. Talk to Nintendo about this one.

Frame rate issues will probably get sorted out eventually, but keep in mind that the Wii is just not a powerful console. An iPhone is much more powerful than a Wii, even."

GDC '09: Ubisoft Announces New Intellectual Property - R.U.S.E.

286w ago - JoyStiq (linked above) checked out Ubisoft's new RTS slash board-game-on-steroids, R.U.S.E., and have made available a high-quality HD trailer, along with some screenshots, to show for it.

To quote: This thing must have been made by someone living in a giant mansion on a cliff in Monte Carlo.

You've got two Eurodudes jockeying for the winning position and having a Zoolander-style face-off for best male model face - it looks like they both brought the Blue Steel.

Despite the bizarreness of this trailer, which shows no actual gameplay from R.U.S.E., we're quite excited about it.

Press Release: LONDON, UK – March 25, 2009 – Today, Ubisoft announced the launch of R.U.S.E., a new intellectual property developed by Eugen Systems, creators of the critically acclaimed strategy title Act of War: Direct Action™. R.U.S.E. is scheduled for release on Windows PC, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system for fiscal year 2009/2010.

R.U.S.E. is optimized for Intel's latest core processors, including the Intel® Core™i7 processor, and will be demonstrated for the first time in public at the Intel booth during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) at Moscone...

Seven Wii Tricks Nintendo Doesn't Tell You About

100°
308w ago - The more complex consoles become, the more weirdy-beardy secret functions are squirreled away inside of them, and Nintendo's latest is no exception.

While most of the Wii's Easter Eggs are specific to certain games - there's a whole trove of 'em in Wii Sports alone - here's seven of the best for the console itself.

1. Email a chum's Wii

You'll need to have a record of those damnably unmemorable friend codes for anyone you want to mail, but once you do it's simple: just drop a message to w[friendcode]@wii.com. For instance, w1234567891011@wii.com.

2. Add a smooth, constant blue glow to your Wii

The blue lighting around the disc slot normally only glows when the Wii's got some sort of announcement for you, and disappears once you've read it. However, you can lend your lounge a sci-fi feel by making that tastefull glow permanent. Just email your own Wii - using the system in the tip above - but never read the message (which can take up to an hour to arrive, incidentally). As long as it stays unread, that cheeky light will keep on twinkling.

3. Mario attack

If you're downloading something from the Wii shop - be it a new channel or a virtual console title - have a gander at what the Mario animation in the progress bar is wearing....
