Square Enix Has No Plans for Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox 360

236w ago - During an E3 interview, Square Enix senior vice president of software development Hiromichi Tanaka has said that there are currently "no plans" to bring the game to Xbox 360.

To quote: "Currently there are no plans for a version for the Xbox 360," Tanaka told [Register or Login to view links].

"We are still talking with Microsoft about an Xbox 360 version, but at the moment we are only working on the PS3 version and Windows version."

At last year's E3, Senior Vice President of Square Enix, Shinji Hashimoto, said that "in terms of other hardware devices, including Microsoft's, we're considering all possibilities [for Final Fantasy XIV]."

We'll see if this changes in the future.
 

Sony and Square Enix Sued for Final Fantasy XIII Freezing on PS3

238w ago - As if there weren't enough class action lawsuits filed recently for the removal of OtherOS on PS3, IGN reports that yet another [Register or Login to view links] (PDF) is brewing against Sony and Square Enix over Final Fantasy XIII freezing and in some cases breaking the user's PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: "The lawsuit, filed on June 2, 2010 by Daniel Wolf of San Diego, Calif., alleges Final Fantasy XIII has caused 'severe and widespread damage' to Sony PS3 gaming systems since its release on March 9, 2010.

The lawsuit states that, for many consumers playing Final Fantasy XIII, has 'caused their PS3 consoles to freeze and become totally and permanently inoperable.'

Wolf said he purchased a copy of Final Fantasy XIII the day it was released, and when attempting to save his game, his PS3 became unresponsive and would no longer play any other media after restarting it.

The suit also alleges that both Sony and Square Enix blamed the issue on one another. Square Enix said the issue resulted from Sony's console, and Sony blamed the issue on a faulty Final Fantasy XIII game disc. Neither company...
 

Square Enix Final Fantasy XIII PS3 Interview: Kitase & Toriyama

Square Enix: Final Fantasy XIII for XBox 360 to Ship on 3 DVDs

256w ago - Square Enix has confirmed to VG247 (linked above) that the XBox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will ship on three DVDs in March, 2010.

The news comes after it was US retailer [Register or Login to view links] listed the RPG at three discs overnight.

To quote: "Yes the game is on three DVDs for the 360," a Square rep told us.

It was also confirmed to us that you're not going to be doing too much ejecting during play.

"Players will only have to swap discs twice during their entire game," said the rep.

Final Fantasy XIII will release in the west for PS3 and XBox 360 on March 9, 2010.
 

Square Enix to Offer Final Fantasy XIII Bus Tours in San Francisco

259w ago - Beginning on January 13, 2010 Square Enix will host San Francisco bus tours giving gamers a chance to play Final Fantasy XIII on PS3 before it is released on March 9, 2010.

The bus will make numerous stops in the San Francisco and Bay areas through January 16, 2010 and those interested can stay up to date on where exactly the bus will be on PlayFFXIII's official Twitter.
