Video: CCP Introduces DUST 514, a Persistent Shooter for PS3

150w ago - DUST 514 Community Manager James Egan of CCP has shared an E3 2011 video today introducing a persistent shooter for PS3 called DUST 514.

To quote: I'm the Community Manager for DUST 514, an upcoming title from CCP. This is the first time you'll have seen DUST 514 highlighted on the PlayStation.Blog and we're happy that we can reveal more about our game to you.

DUST 514 is a very different type of game. Yes, many people say this about their respective game titles – everyone thinks their baby is special, right? We really mean it though.

When playing your FPS title of choice, have you ever wished that there was something more to it beyond your rank, weapon unlocks, your kill/death ratio and leaderboard prominence? Those things are all great - but what if those matches you fought in actually meant something?

What if your successes and failures against your opponents impacted the course of events in a vast setting, potentially changed a virtual world and the gameplay experience of thousands of other players? More than that, what if that impact was felt across two separate games - one on PS3 and one on PC/Mac - that share the same sci-fi universe?

Resistance 3 Gets PS Move, Sharp Shooter and Stereoscopic 3D

159w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has revealed today that Resistance 3 for PS3 will be getting PlayStation Move, Sharp Shooter and Stereoscopic 3D support!

To quote: Today we are finally able reveal, due to overwhelming community demand, that Resistance 3 will support Stereoscopic 3DTV.

Furthermore, those of you who are enjoying the precision of the PlayStation Move motion controller with your copies of Killzone 3 and the SOCOM 4 Beta will be delighted to know that Resistance 3 will also support PlayStation Move and the sharp shooter.

After Killzone 3 launched, we heard a massive amount of positive feedback, and were inundated with requests to support both PlayStation Move and sharp shooter. So we're glad to be able to finally confirm the news!

As you can see, our founder Ted Price and Resistance 3 Creative Director Marcus Smith are so pumped that they found 3D glasses and grabbed sharp shooters to pose for a photo (though we had to remind them that they need the cool high-tech stereoscopic 3D glasses to actually play, not those old "red-blue" ones).

Resistance 3 hits your PS3 and 3D TV on September 6th, so have your sharp shooter ready! In the meantime, if you want to hear about all the latest happenings at our community day, follow...

PixelJunk Shooter 2 Hits PSN Today with New Online Battle Mode

163w ago - Q-Games Ltd President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert has confirmed that PixelJunk Shooter 2 hits PSN today with a new Online Battle Mode.

To quote: The sequel to the technically and critically acclaimed PixelJunk Shooter will be with us later today!

It continues where the original left off, leaving you trapped in the deep dark bowels of an enormous alien entity.

Fight through the backwash and encounter the weird and terrible monsters that are living in the alien's gut, force your way through putrid stomach acid and strange slippery bubbly stuff, and be totally grossed out by thousands of iddy-biddy insects that come pouring out of strange pulsating larvae when you mix water with it.

Yes, this is a game you probably want to avoid playing immediately after eating, and you might feel a little queasy the next time you are staring down Sparrow-on-a-stick (a Kyoto traditional cruisine).

But wait... PixelJunk Shooter 2 isn't all about dieting and worm control! It has vast new worlds to explore that aren't part of an organism's digestive track, and new technologies too, such as the Hungry Suit and the Light Suit and a whole load more.

Use the new R3 spin-attack to wipe out chains of enemies at a time and revel in the destructive mayhem...

Back in December we showed you the new PlayStation Move sharp shooter and its compatibility with Killzone 3.

Today, we took some time to walk you through the sharp shooter's anatomy and show you how it works in action with two of our most anticipated games - Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs.

The PlayStation Move sharp shooter's authentic design allows you to literally take aim and move into the firefight with the most intuitive and immersive control experience for shooter games. For those of you FPS fans on the fence about the sharp shooter, here are a few things to consider:

Video: Killzone 3 PS3 Meets the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter

174w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has posted up a video today of Killzone 3 meeting the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter on the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: Last week saw the introduction of the PlayStation Move sharp shooter, an upcoming peripheral which transforms the PlayStation Move motion controller into a sleek assault rifle designed for hardcore shooters such as Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4.

The sharp shooter's feature set is extensive, so I went hands-on to learn more about its functionality and (surprisingly easy) setup process. Guerrilla Games Managing Director Hermen Hulst and I field tested the PS3's new weapon of choice.

Developed with input from the FPS experts at Guerrilla Games and Zipper Interactive, the sharp shooter is a snap to assemble: you secure a navigation controller into the foregrip, then fasten the PlayStation Move motion controller into the "barrel," which connects to a small digital port on the bottom of the PlayStation Move called the extension connector.

In comparison, the PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment is mechanical; the sharp shooter's use of the extension connector means that buttons...
