50°
23w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements goes behind the supernatural scenes of Murdered: Soul Suspect on PS4 and PS3 today.

Below are the details, to quote: In a storm of broken glass and gunshots, Ronan O'Connor dies in the dark Salem night. So begins a supernatural investigation into his own murder.

In the upcoming thriller for PS3 and PS4, help Ronan unravel the mystery of his untimely demise and save his ghost from the inevitable corruption of the Dusk.

In light of the upcoming launch of Murdered: Soul Suspect, we asked Airtight Games Chief Creative Officer Matt Brunner and Senior Design Producer Eric Studer some questions about their design process. Read on to see what inspired this ghostly thriller, and how the team fashioned a story around your own murder.

PlayStation.Blog: How did the team at Airtight Games come to the idea of a supernatural crime story? How does the detective narrative and the ghostly elements fit together?

Matt Brunner: From my recollection, we started with the core concept of a ghost game. It was that notion that got the team most excited. Our first round of gameplay and character development led us more into a ghost action hero with ranged weapons and the ability to traverse great heights.

800°
23w ago - Following up on the previous updates, today PlayStation 3 developer user updated PSNope to version 1.06 (Test) with the changes outlined below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

To quote: here were some requests for an update so here you are. Sony added some checks to syscall 870 in fw 4.55, but this update should make psnope pass these checks removing cfw calls should work again.

New Test Features:

  • Output content from the community log files (enable the debug_log option if you're running cex fw)
  • Cleanup community log files based on blacklisting. no idea if its useful or not...

No cobra fw support (and no plans to add support it in the future)

Anyway, i'm not really interested in updating PSNope anymore and if you want to play online with cfw i recommend to:

  • restore ofw syscall table
  • clean up all history and log files
  • restore ofw explore_plugin.sprx, nas_plugin.sprx and explore_category_game.sprx

There is no tool which supports all of these atm. oh, and don't spoof anything. PSN can check in theory...

D-Pad Studio Announces That Savant Ascent is Coming to PS4

50°
23w ago - Today D-Pad Studio's Jo-Remi Madsen announced that Savant Ascent PS4 is coming to PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Hey everyone! My name is Jo from D-Pad Studio, and it's our pleasure to announce that Savant Ascent, a game about robot infested towers, magic missiles, and claiming ultimate power, is coming to Playstation.

Music and style are what the game is all about! [Register or Login to view links] in real life is an electronic musician, and in the game you play as Savant as he appears on [Register or Login to view links] cover, designed by our art director, Simon S. Andersen.

Our team has been close friends with Savant for a long time, and last summer we decided that:

• We should create a game together.
• We'd use Savant's music and Simon's characters as inspiration.

We ended up with a beat-pumping, dodge-and-shoot action game, stylized to fit with Savant's tracks. Tracks could be unlocked, giving you an introduction to Savant's music, and also acting as powerful upgrades. This makes you feel like nothing can stop you once you get the hang of things.

We didn't think it was enough to only be able to shoot magic missiles and defeat robots, so we added some varying stages,...

TowerFall Ascension on PS4: Behind the Arena on PlayStation 4

50°
24w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements goes behind the arena today in TowerFall Ascension PS4 on PlayStation 4 with an interview below.

To quote: TowerFall Ascension launched on PS4 earlier this week, introducing PlayStation gamers to an addictive, challenging, and delightfully pure arena game. With an electric, competitive design and an all new, co-op Quest mode, TowerFall Ascension is a great reminder of why local multiplayer is so much fun.

I touched base with TowerFall creator Matt Thorson to hear more about what inspired TowerFall, how it feels on PS4, and what it was like working as a small indie developer. My thanks to Matt for spending time on PlayStation.Blog!

PlayStation.Blog: What inspired your original vision of TowerFall? Did you always have a competitive element in mind since the game's conception?

Matt Thorson: I tried a lot of things with TowerFall early on, with a focus on single-player gameplay. But the competitive modes just clicked, and it was obvious I had to follow the game in that direction. I realized, once I started designing the versus gameplay, that I had been thinking about local multiplayer for years. I was happy to finally have an outlet for those ideas.

Video: TowerFall Ascension PS4 is Out Today on PlayStation 4

50°
24w ago - Matt Makes Games Inc Indie Game Developer Matt Thorson announced that TowerFall Ascension PS4 is out today on PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Today's the day! TowerFall Ascension is finally launching on PS4. TowerFall is an archery platformer featuring intense local multiplayer battles and a dynamic solo - or co-op - Quest mode. Grab your friends and pack onto your couch for a night of close calls, surprise victories, and hilarious missteps.

The reviews began rolling in a few days ago, and I'm absolutely floored by the response. I'm not usually one to put a lot of stock in those dubious numbers emblazoned in bold at the bottom of articles, but I can't deny it feels good to see the 9.5′s.

Making TowerFall has been the most rewarding experience of my life. When I put love into the game, I see it returned to me tenfold by the TowerFall community, and it only appears to be growing.

I also had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented, capable, and pleasant people. I want to thank the entire team by name. Kevin Regamey and Jeff Tangsoc (sound design), Pedro Medeiros (pixel art), Amora Bettany (character design and concept art), Alec Holowka (music), and Kert Gartner (trailers).
