Real Boxing on PS Vita Enters the Ring August 27th for $9.99

38w ago - Vivid Games Brand Manager Jan Chichlowski announced today that Real Boxing on PS Vita enters the ring this August 27th for $9.99.

To quote: Here at Vivid Games we do like a fight. The art team is terrible at making teas and coffees - so that often ends in fisticuffs.

The sound guys are always making too much noise - and with the recent warm weather that's meant we've been extra grumpy, so often their racket has ended in a punch-up. And as for the management team? Well they are often throwing their weight around - so the rest of us really enjoy punching them in the face.

Not in real life, obviously. Fortunately, as the developer and publisher of Real Boxing, we're able to settle any disputes we have in the virtual ring. And we're really excited to reveal that you guys will be able to do the same on PS Vita on August 27th, for $9.99.

As the name suggests, Real Boxing is a boxing simulation game where you'll create a boxer and take him on a journey from amateur to pro. There are also a multitude of other modes and features including multiplayer so you can touch gloves remotely with friends.

There will also be regular tournaments based on leaderboard rankings, so there's always a new challenge ahead. Boxing games seem to be rather few and far between, so we're...

Video: YEBIS 2 is Bringing Visual Fireworks to PS4 Developers

41w ago - Sony Lead Software Engineer and Shader Architect Masaki Kawase at Silicon Studio announced today that YEBIS 2 is bringing visual fireworks to PS4 developers.

To quote: I'm Masaki Kawase, Lead Software Engineer and Shader Architect from Silicon Studio, and I'm thrilled to talk with you directly on game development for PlayStation 4.

It's an exciting time since E3, but let's roll up our sleeves and get into the nitty-gritty on making games for PS4.

We've been partners with Sony Computer Entertainment for years now (PS3 fans remember Silicon Studio for the PS3-exclusive 3D Dot Game Heroes), and we couldn't be more delighted to work on PS4. PlayStation is in prime position with PS3 and PS Vita, but PS4 will bring souped-up visuals for gamers anticipating cutting-edge experiences.

We're made up of two parts: first, we make traditional games, but second, we provide middleware solutions to developers around the world. YEBIS 2 is our most recent middleware offering, a real-time post-processing lens simulation middleware, famously utilized in Square Enix's trailer of Final Fantasy XV.

We've worked with Square Enix for years, and we are thrilled to integrate our post-processing effects...

Video: Pickles in Your Pocket: Bringing Runner2 to PlayStation Vita

45w ago - Gaijin Games Associate Producer Dant Rambo posted up a video today announcing Runner2 for the PlayStation Vita handheld console.

To quote: Adapting a console game for a mobile platform is no walk in the Welcome Park. The reasons for this are numerous, but it ultimately boils down to an issue of faithfulness.

We can't speak for other developers €" though we imagine they would agree €" but we wanted our game, BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, to feel the same on the Vita as it does on the rest of its platforms.

Furthermore, we wanted to provide players everywhere with the chance to carry Unkle Dill around wherever they go. Though we've not yet finished our development of the Vita version, we're confident we've succeeded on both fronts.

For those unaware, Runner2 is a 2D platformer featuring vibrant worlds, unique characters, challenging (and rewarding!) gameplay, and the vocal stylings of Charles Martinet.

From the early planning stages to the finished product, our goal was to create a game that made people happy. If it just so happens that you're someone who likes to be happy, chances are good you'll enjoy it immensely.

Now, with the elevator pitch out of the way,...

Video: Gran Turismo 6 E3 2013 PS3 Trailer Shows Willow Springs

45w ago - Sony Associate Product Manager Ken Chan posted up a new Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) E3 2013 PS3 trailer video which shows Willow Springs and GT3 race cars below.

To quote: 2013 Press Conference, we proudly presented a new trailer showing highlights and new evolutions developed exclusively for GT6.

Without giving too much of the trailer away, pay attention to the effects of the new physics engine as it accounts for all the intricacies and complexities of a car€s behavior, especially during cornering.

With help from KW Automotive, the suspension system of each vehicle, most notably the shocks, more accurately showcase how a car reacts to various lateral loads, reproducing body roll and wheel slip in an amazingly real manner.

Polyphony Digital worked closely with Yokohama Rubber Corporation to produce a new tire model that reflects the tire compound, tire structure and changes in characteristics during extreme load conditions.

Improving the overall look of GT6 is Adaptive Tessellation, the next generation in 3D model rendering technology. Tessellation involves dividing a polygon into multiple geometric tiles; Adaptive Tessellation takes that science one step further by automatically dividing the polygons to become finer according to the viewing distance and position.
