We had hundreds of entries, which we were very grateful for, and settled on 'VELOCITY', as it described the concept and gameplay very well - and is a cool word!
Here at FuturLab we don't think it is good enough to churn out cloned games. We wanted to do justice to the nostalgia of early games in the shoot 'em-up genre, so that people can pick up Velocity and feel right at home, but also feel the excitement of playing something completely new!
After many months prototyping, we knew we had something special with Velocity - the teleporting mechanics had never been done before - so we wanted a big sound to complement the gameplay experience.
We are therefore incredibly excited that Joris de Man, the award winning composer that wrote and produced the music for Killzone 2 & 3, has co-written and co-produced the music for Velocity!
So it sounds incredible and is a genuine, high quality homage to the classic...

92w ago - Today Examiner.com (linked above) reports that a leaked Sony R&D presentation PDF File (BuildingCommunitywithPlayStationNetwork.pdf) has revealed PS3-Vita connectivity, save sharing and more through PlayStation Network.
In addition, features such as voice chat and messaging along with remote play will also be available. Those interested can check out some slides from the SCEE R&D presentation HERE.
To quote: "Today a PDF file was discovered from a Keynote given at Develop in Brighton, the PDF reveals plans for Vita and how the new portable will interact with other Vita's locally and over the internet, what services the handheld will feature, DLC, as well as how the Vita and PS3 can interact - Vita as a PS3 controller but using Vita's unique features to enhance the game experience and several others are touched on.

At the SCEE press conference we learned that Facebook, Twitter, Skype and Foursquare applications will be available on Vita alongside such social features as:
Near: find out what your friends in the vicinity are playing now or what they were playing recently. Meet new players virtually, regardless of what games they are playing, simply by sharing their game information across different dimensions of time and distance.
Party: Enjoy voice chat or text chat not only during online gaming, but also when users are playing different games or using different applications such as the internet browser.
SCEE President and CEO Andrew House declared that "PlayStation is about games and PlayStation Vita is a breakthrough portable entertainment system that will thrill gamers."
