Sony Announces Remote Racing Hits Gran Turismo 5 for PS3

200°
200w ago - Today Sony's European Brand Manager Penrose Tackie has announced Remote Racing is hitting Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: I am delighted to confirm that a new functionality update has been made to Gran Turismo 5, which in addition to a number of other enhancements, means that Gran Turismo is now playable from a web browser!

The main features of the update are as below:

1. Remote racing between friends to level up drivers

You can now set the AI drivers you created for B Spec in Gran Turismo 5 to be shared online, and you can host fully automated B Spec races (Remote races) that will grant rewards and experience.

You can either watch the live broadcast of the remote race, or save it to watch later. In B Spec mode the player is the director of a racing team, working to level up your very own AI Drivers.

The races are driven by AI Drivers against each other, and the player does not have to drive the car themselves.

This is a unique racing strategy simulation mode of Gran Turismo that allows you to enjoy races as you would in a live race broadcast on TV.

2. Supporting Remote Racing from the web browser

In "Remote Races" you can log in to the official "[Register or Login to view links]"...

213w ago - Today Senior Vice President Peter Dille of Marketing & PlayStation Network has shared a new GT5 PS3 promo video with Kevin Butler entitled It Only Does Revolutionary Racing Experiences.

To quote: In just six short days, the franchise that revolutionized the racing category as we know it will be making its exclusive debut on PlayStation 3. [Register or Login to view links] will be racing onto store shelves this coming Wednesday, November 24.

This highly anticipated installment will no doubt raise the bar on the franchise's unparalleled graphics, presentation and gameplay - bringing you an experience so life-like you'll find it hard to distinguish from a live race.

While we think features such as the all-new Course Maker, an expansive online racing community built right in, stereoscopic 3D compatibility and more than 1,000 cars from the world's top manufacturers, including karts and select [Register or Login to view links] cars, speak for themselves, we still couldn't resist giving one of our most anticipated and loved franchises the "Kevin Butler" treatment.

In this latest ad, we find [Register or Login to view links] taking a call from a devoted Gran Turismo fan anxiously waiting for...

220w ago - Today Game Director Luca Ferrara at Milestone SRL has announced that Superstars V8 Racing is coming to PSN on October 26 alongside giveaway details, as follows:

Not long ago, our friends at O-Games announced here on the blog that [Register or Login to view links] would be launching in North America exclusively on PlayStation Network as a download with all of the trimmings of a retail game for only $19.99.

Today we're here to let you know that the date is officially set for October 26th - and we'd love to tell you more about our studio and the work we put into the project since its inception.

My name is Luca Ferrara, and I'm the Game Director on Superstars V8 Racing. As a developer, Milestone has been working in the racing genre for many, many years. Driving is our passion, and bringing our passion into the world of video games is our specialty.

Some of you might know us from other franchises on two wheels like Moto GP 07 and the SBK Superbike World Championship series. Others might recognize us from our days working on games like the Screamer series and Evolution GT.

While a large portion of our fans reside in Europe, we rarely get an opportunity to reach out to our fans in the US - so I'm happy to be here to tell...

Video: Superstars V8 Racing: Coming to the PlayStation Network

225w ago - O-Games General Manager Greg Lanz has posted up a video today spotlighting Superstars V8 Racing which is coming soon to Sony's PlayStation Network.

To quote: As the publisher for Superstars V8 Racing, we are excited to bring such a robust game to PlayStation Network.

Over the past few years we have watched the digital marketplace grow. As many publishers and developers launched digital products on the PSN platform, O-Games made a strategic decision to hold off until we had the perfect product.

Superstars V8 Racing is one of most robust, deep and graphically rich racing games on PSN, and at $19.99 it's going to be difficult for anyone to find a better bargain; Superstars V8 Racing is a full retail game packaged for PlayStation Network.

Dozens of official circuit tracks, head-to-head online play with up to seven other players, and big name brand cars make this a great racing game.

Why did we drop the retail disc, and go digital on the PSN?

A little over six months ago, we had aspirations to take Superstars V8 Racing to the retail channel. We took the title on tour to the major North American retailers and tried to find a market for the game.

The retailers really enjoyed the title, it...
