Cross Edge Slashes to PS3 Consoles Today: PS3 Trophies Await!

50°
256w ago - Today Nao Zook, the PR/Marketing Coordinator of NIS America, Inc has announced that Cross Edge hit the PS3 console.

To quote: As of today (May 26th), Cross Edge has officially been released!

Cross Edge is a dream-come-true RPG for hardcore gamers. It is the first RPG on PLAYSTATION 3 that has 5 different companies collaborating for one incredible adventure!

You'll see some familiar faces from Darkstalkers (Capcom); Disgaea (Nippon Ichi Software); Ar tonelico (Bandai Namco); Atelier Marie and Mana Khemia 2 (Gust); and Spectral Souls (Idea Factory). And all the characters are playable. Isn't that cool?

You can also collect costumes for all the different characters, and their stats and abilities will change depending on which costume they are wearing.

And when you change costumes on female characters, their appearance will also change! It's really cute! If you are into these characters, Cross Edge is a must-have!

I would also like to talk a bit about the battle system. Cross Edge has a unique hybrid battle system that combines a classic RPG setup with an intuitive grid-based SRPG style.

In battle, a square grid will appear beneath the units, and players can move their characters...

Sony Refuses to Replace Backwards-Compatible PS3 Consoles

750°
261w ago - A TAWKN (linked above) user who goes by dn2500f has had his 80GB PS3 with backwards-compatibility at Sony's repair center in Ontario, Canada for three weeks now.

Sony apparently only offered to give him a new model 80GB PS3, which does not include PS2 support (over 1,900 PS2 games that he can no longer play).

To quote: Today he called in to get a status update and was told that it was beyond repair, and because Sony doesn't make that model anymore they can't replace it... despite the fact that he bought four years' worth of Sony Care extended warranty for it, for a total of five years.

They offered to give him a new model 80GB PS3.

He argued with them that he is not just losing a PS3, but PS2 support (that's over 1900 PS2 games that he can no longer play), extra USB ports, plus the built-in card readers. Sony's reply? Too freaking bad. (Not a direct quote, obviously).

This guy is very angry at Sony, and rightfully so. They didn't offer him anything but a far inferior model than what he bought about 12 months ago, which he says is unacceptable - and I agree.

At the VERY least, they should be trying to make up for this to him and other users who paid $100 extra for a console that has only one life left to live.

If I were in his situation,...

50°
264w ago - Dinner Dash is coming to downloadable platforms this summer- your girlfriend will be ecstatic!

Diner Dash will be making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and WiiWare this summer, courtesy of Hudson Entertainment.

The popular franchise, featuring Flo the waitress and her efforts towards making a junky diner a success, has sold more than 2 million units to date.

"We're delighted to bring Flo and Diner Dash to new gen consoles for the first time," said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Product Development at Hudson Entertainment. "Players have fallen in love with the award-winning series because of its quirky characters and fast-paced fun."

On consoles, Diner Dash will be a 3D affair with players being given the ability to take direct control of Flo. Success will come to those that can seat customers, take orders and deliver food as efficiently and quickly as possible.

If you are a Diner Dash fan and prefer the old point-and-click style of gaming, that option will be available as well. Multiplayer modes will also be available with a Team Dash for 8 players or a two player face off.

PS3 EBOOT.BIN ELF Memory Offsets Mapped for Debug Consoles

50°
267w ago - This was posted 2 days ago (working thread) in the PlayStation 3 Dev News Forum courtesy of XVISTAMAN2005 with assistance from idone, and is handy for PS3 Debug console owners in rebuilding decrypted ELF's from a SELF launched into memory.

To quote: Well this took some time but we have it sorted out, CJPC posted a while back ago that an eboot.bin had been decypted from memory. The bad thing about this is that it is verry difficult to figure out how the file was before it was loaded and to put it back to an executalbe file.

Well after HRS and sleepless nights this has been sorted and put in an easy to do map. The following is an example of the the file location offsets located in the elf header. Based on this the file can be rebuilt in a matter of mins.

NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF HOW IT COULD BE DONE THE MEMORY OFFFSET LOACTIONS CAN CHANGE A BIT FROM FILE TO FILE SO ONE WOULD HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK THERE MEM DUMP FOR SECTIONS IF THE OFFSET TABLE DOES NOT MATCH UP BUT THIS MAP WAS USED ON 3 DIFFERNT EBOOT.BIN'S SO...
