152w ago - Today JoyStiq (linked above) speculates that based on both a NeoGAF Tip by Mr_Brit and a Digital Foundry report Sony may be planning to remotely disable JailBroken PS3 consoles essentially banning them from PSN.
To quote: "Even if you've never signed up for a PSN account, your console will communicate with Sony servers every time it boots up.
That initial load process is used to upload error logs, download updates to the "What's New" module, and a list of recently-run applications, including any unauthorized backup manager software.
Sony has yet to ban any consoles for taking advantage of the jailbreak, but the terms and conditions of the PlayStation Network make it clear that Sony has the authority to carry them out.
Thanks to the system's constant self-reporting feature, "the company even has the means to irrevocably disable your console should it so wish," rendering affected PS3 consoles unusable, online and off. But will Sony ever use such a drastic measure? And if so, how will the hacker...
152w ago - Hello, I am going to review a PS JailBreak PS3 ModChip Clone simply called the PSJailBreak 2. This review will be detailed so I am going to criticize each aspect I find necessary.
It comes in the "standard JailBreak packaging", it is good, I didn't like that they used 2 magnets for opening/closing the package...
Any magnet near any Hard-Drive or monitor will cause some damage, especially because many people would keep the package near the ps3...
Packaging Grade: 90/100
2) The Object
It is very small and compact. It is enclosed in rubber, you can completely remove the rubber and enclose it again. Funny thing is that the shape of the device is exactly same contrasted to the Official PSJailBreak banners. The "PSJAILBREAK2.TW" that is written on it is a sticker that is easily removable...
Object Grade: 80/100
It is supplied blank which is good, but they didn't write their Web site anywhere, so I wouldn't know where to get software unless I searched. There are problems with the software, as follows:
First of all, There are two types of PSJailBreak 2 "soft-updaters". One will update to JailBreak-related...
153w ago - Today I received two PS3 USB JailBreak 2.5" Slim External Enclosures from PS3USBJailBreak.com to review, one with a 500GB HDD & one without.
When the DHL truck arrived today i was excited, the samples were finally here! The packaging wasn't the best but it was acceptable.
The enclosures were in a thin plastic box that was then wrapped in bubble wrap with about 2 miles of tape wrapped around to hold the bubble wrap. Wasn't pretty but it worked!
I must say this is a very nice product, in a nutshell it is a PS3 USB Jailbreak Adapter (AT64S) with a 500GB Seagate HDD (upgradable) inside an slim external enclosure. It will jailbreak your ps3 & store your games all on the same device. The best feature in my opinion is that it comes preloaded with 40+ PS3 Games! Games like GOWIII, Dante's Inferno, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Soul Caliber IV, NBA Jam, NBA2k11, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Mirrors Edge. The list goes on & on!
The Web site printed on the enclosure doesn't feature this new product on their site yet, but it does have the essential information and software needed to flash the built in PS3USBJailbreak.
Surprisingly, the enclosure came pre-flashed with HermesV4b...
This is a final revision in the sense that all further github pushes will be based on the new private key related tools, and I can only hope that the improvements made to SynaPS3 in the near future will help it become a powerful tool for PS3 devs when the new tools become available.
The next github push will remove all syscalls and focus on fail0verflow specific tools, so all functions related to specific payloads or calls will be unavailable, in the hopes that the next push will have far better means of implementing many things.
Once again, I hoped to finish coding a way of writing to /dev_flash without Peek/Poke, but this goal was not realized as I did not have that much time this month to work on SynaPS3...
