Video: PS3 3.60 JailBreak Rumor, Mathieulh Claims Running Code

1350°
197w ago - Just over a week ago PlayStation 3 hacker Mathieulh confirmed finding a PS3 3.56 Exploit, and today [Register or Login to view links] tweeted part of an IRC chat log where Mathieulh stated the following regarding PS3 Firmware 3.60 running homebrew code, as follows:

"[03:15] while you are insulting me like morons, I already have code running on 3.60, and I am laughing, and guess what ? I am happy I stopped sharing, you can hate me for it, I don't care."

He followed up with the following Tweets: To those planning on building a 3.56+ pup for whatever reason, the files attributes changed, the group and user ids for the files as well. The new 3.56+ values for tarballs are the following: owner_id, “0000764″ group_id, “0000764″ owner, “tetsu” group, “tetsu” ustar, “ustar”

You can use fix_tar to use those new values. Use with caution. By comparison, those are the pre-3.56 values. owner_id, “0001752″ group_id, “0001274″ owner, “pup_tool” group, “psnes” ustar, “ustar”

3.60 isn’t “hardcore...

PS3 METLDR Root Key ReTweeted by Sony's Kevin Butler

201w ago - About as exciting as recycling the PSN bypass blocked again news, today Engadget reports that Kevin Butler has inadvertently [Register or Login to view links] (now removed) the PS3 METLDR Root Key- specifically the HMAC Dongle Master Key that GeoHot first posted before Sony took legal action for hacking the PlayStation 3 console.

To quote: "Oh, honey. Sony PlayStation's (entirely fictional) Kevin Butler holds many (also fictional) positions within the company, but apparently none of them require him to keep up with (very real) news events. Travis La Marr (aka [Register or Login to view links]) tweeted the now-infamous PS3 METLDR root key towards Butler with the challenge to "Come at me."

What's a spokeperson to do but confuse it for a Battleship reference and retweet the entire code? Obviously someone let him in on the joke, as the tweet's since been removed. At least Sony won't have to subpoena for his info here. Geohot, we hope you're laughing."

Rumor: Sony to Remotely Disable JailBroken PS3s, PSN Bans?

1200°
205w ago - Today JoyStiq (linked above) speculates that based on both a [Register or Login to view links] by Mr_Brit and a [Register or Login to view links] report Sony may be planning to remotely disable JailBroken PS3 consoles essentially banning them from PSN.

To quote: "Even if you've never signed up for a PSN account, your console will communicate with Sony servers every time it boots up.

That initial load process is used to upload error logs, download updates to the "What's New" module, and a list of recently-run applications, including any unauthorized backup manager software.

Sony has yet to ban any consoles for taking advantage of the jailbreak, but the terms and conditions of the PlayStation Network make it clear that Sony has the authority to carry them out.

Thanks to the system's constant self-reporting feature, "the company even has the means to irrevocably disable your console should it so wish," rendering affected PS3 consoles unusable, online and off. But will Sony ever use such a drastic measure? And if so, how will the hacker...

PSJailBreak 2 - PS JailBreak PS3 ModChip Clone is Reviewed

350°
205w ago - Hello, I am going to review a PS JailBreak PS3 ModChip Clone simply called the PSJailBreak 2. This review will be detailed so I am going to criticize each aspect I find necessary.

1) Packaging

It comes in the "standard JailBreak packaging", it is good, I didn't like that they used 2 magnets for opening/closing the package...

Any magnet near any Hard-Drive or monitor will cause some damage, especially because many people would keep the package near the ps3...

Packaging Grade: 90/100

2) The Object

It is very small and compact. It is enclosed in rubber, you can completely remove the rubber and enclose it again. Funny thing is that the shape of the device is exactly same contrasted to the Official PSJailBreak banners. The "PSJAILBREAK2.TW" that is written on it is a sticker that is easily removable...

Object Grade: 80/100

3) Software

It is supplied blank which is good, but they didn't write their [Register or Login to view links] anywhere, so I wouldn't know where to get software unless I searched. There are problems with the software, as follows:

First of all, There are two types of PSJailBreak 2 "soft-updaters". One will update to JailBreak-related...

PS3 USB JailBreak 2.5-Inch Slim External Enclosure Reviewed

750°
206w ago - Today I received two PS3 USB JailBreak 2.5" Slim External Enclosures from [Register or Login to view links] to review, one with a 500GB HDD & one without.

When the DHL truck arrived today i was excited, the samples were finally here! The packaging wasn't the best but it was acceptable.

The enclosures were in a thin plastic box that was then wrapped in bubble wrap with about 2 miles of tape wrapped around to hold the bubble wrap. Wasn't pretty but it worked!

I must say this is a very nice product, in a nutshell it is a PS3 USB Jailbreak Adapter (AT64S) with a 500GB Seagate HDD (upgradable) inside an slim external enclosure. It will jailbreak your ps3 & store your games all on the same device. The best feature in my opinion is that it comes preloaded with 40+ PS3 Games! Games like GOWIII, Dante's Inferno, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Soul Caliber IV, NBA Jam, NBA2k11, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Mirrors Edge. The list goes on & on!

The Web site printed on the enclosure doesn't feature this new product on their site yet, but it does have the essential information and [Register or Login to view links] needed to flash the built in PS3USBJailbreak.

Surprisingly, the enclosure came pre-flashed with HermesV4b...
