164w ago - I just updated my Call of Duty Black Ops around 8pm CST and can no longer play it on PS3 CFW.

The game won't even start, informing me that I need to upgrade my PlayStation 3 Firmware to 3.6, or higher. Though after deleting install data, the game is right as rain again.

Below is the 1.10 changelog from community manager JD_2020:

Cloud PS3 Game Online Saving Coming in Firmware 3.60 Update

750°
186w ago - Today Kotaku (linked above) reports that Sony PlayStation 3 developers have revealed Cloud PS3 Game Online Saving is coming in the Firmware 3.60 update.

To quote: "Cloud storage means that, rather than just keeping your save game data on your PlayStation 3's hard drive, users will be given the option to upload their saves remotely to a server.

The advantage of this is that not only does it save the user space on their hard drive, but since it's tied to a PlayStation Network account, it can be pulled down to different consoles whenever and wherever the user desires.

First rumored all the way back in 2009, there is of course a catch: it'll only be made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers, not the great unwashed. Actually, there are two catches: Sony bundled the announcement with the clause that, because saving games to the cloud "will allow save data with the copy prohibited attribute to be copied into the online storage", developers are able to opt out and bar their games from using it should there be a concern.

Sony will call the process "Online Saving", and it'll be made available as part of the PS3's upcoming 3.60 firmware update."

PS JailBreak Warns Buyers Not to Update Past 3.41 PS3 Firmware

850°
209w ago - A few days back the PS JailBreak folks warned buyers about less expensive clone PS3 modchips, including the x3JailBreak and the PS3Key USB modchip, and today they sent out a wave of warning e-mails to those who pre-ordered the device not to update their PS3 Firmware beyond version 3.41 until it is confirmed safe to do so.

TQCast.com (linked above) confirms receiving one of these such e-mails, and reports it as containing the following notice, to quote:

"Just a friendly update email and some advice for you over the coming days and weeks.

While PS Jailbreak team have told us it should be possible to support future firmware versions on the PS3, it's is not guaranteed, they will need to access any newer firmwares than 3.41 and if needed release an update for the PS Jailbreak to support the newer firmwares.

So we wanted to give you all some advice that if a system update is released for the PS3 in the coming days or before you receive your PS Jailbreak which blocks system...
