Video: MLB 10: The Show PS3 All-Star Week Features

236w ago - Designer Aaron Luke has posted up a video today on the PlayStation Blog highlighting MLB 10: The Show PS3 All-Star Week features.

To quote: This entry will discuss the additions made to the MLB All-Star Week festivities.

When we set out at the beginning of the year, one area we knew needed to be addressed was the addition of the Home Run Derby.

As we began to dive into the feature, we thought rather than just offering it as a stand-alone feature (which it is), why not include it into all season-based modes' MLB All-Star Week festivities. Now when you're playing in Season, Franchise or Road To The Show, you'll have the opportunity to play in the Home Run Derby.

When playing the Home Run Derby, you have the choice to set which players are controlled by player 1, player 2, or the CPU - except in RTTS, where you only get to control your created player. You also will have fast-forwarding abilities, in case you want to skip the CPU-controlled player's at bats.

After tackling the Home Run Derby addition, we thought why not go all-in and include the All-Star Futures Game as well. So, we've done just that. Now you get the full All-Star package. Video: BioShock 2 PS3 Walkthrough - New Gameplay Features

246w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video walkthrough today on the PlayStation Blog for BioShock 2 on PS3 which showcases some new gameplay features.

To quote: This week's Q1 PlayStation Showcase didn't just feature Sony-published games; a number of publishers brought along heavily-anticipated titles to show on PS3 and PSP.

I think that term - "heavily anticipated" - definitely applies to [Register or Login to view links].

In this video, [Register or Login to view links]'s Lead Environment Artist Hogarth Delaplante ("call me Hoagy") walks us through some of the new features and areas in BioShock 2, and details new gameplay features like setting traps, "dual-wielding", and the new hacking mechanic.

Gran Turismo 5 PS3 Game Features Announced at GamesCom '09

263w ago - Today some new Gran Turismo 5 PS3 game features have been uncovered by GTPlanet.net (linked above) during GamesCom '09, and then mysteriously removed from Polyphony Digital's [Register or Login to view links].

From the Press Release: August 18, GamesCom, held in Cologne, Germany - Gran Turismo 5 has been announced!

Here is the latest information on the game design:

170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)

Sony: PS3 Firmware 3.0 Features Just Wild Speculation

270w ago - Today IGN has published a statement from Sony's Product Publicity Rep on the rumored PS3 Firmware 3.0 features.

To quote: The worldwide Web is abuzz with another PlayStation 3 rumor. This one claims that PS3 Firmware 3.0 will be out by Christmas and bring a complete overhaul in the vein of the new Xbox Experience.

The rumor says you can expect background patch downloading, a reputation system, and more.

Sony says that's B.S. as follows:

"These rumors are completely untrue, nothing has been announced or confirmed for upcoming PlayStation firmware, and this is just wild speculation," said Jennifer Clark, director of SCEA product publicity.
 

PS3 Firmware 3.0 Rumored Features Are Detailed

270w ago - Although it is still some time away (Super_Secret predicts PS3 Firmware 3.0 won't be out during the summer, but before the holidays) the folks at VG247 (linked above) have uncovered some additional details on it.

To quote: The software upgrade has been described to us as "a huge overhaul", and was compared to NXE "in some respects".

The before-rumored reputation system will be included. We were told that, "A reputation system in which users will be able to evaluate each other will be provided for... game applications.

"There will be a new API available to so the user can... allow users and also obtain users' reputation."

A "grief reporting system" will be included in the update, allowing gamers to take screens of offensive players and submit them to Sony. Apparently this is going to be similar to the LBP system, and is likely to include a text input.

Firmware 3.0 will allow patches will be downloaded in the background, meaning you'll no longer have to sit staring at the screen while Random Shooter updates itself with a 500Mb fix.
