Video: BioShock 2 PS3 Walkthrough - New Gameplay Features

242w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video walkthrough today on the PlayStation Blog for BioShock 2 on PS3 which showcases some new gameplay features.

To quote: This week's Q1 PlayStation Showcase didn't just feature Sony-published games; a number of publishers brought along heavily-anticipated titles to show on PS3 and PSP.

I think that term - "heavily anticipated" - definitely applies to [Register or Login to view links].

In this video, [Register or Login to view links]'s Lead Environment Artist Hogarth Delaplante ("call me Hoagy") walks us through some of the new features and areas in BioShock 2, and details new gameplay features like setting traps, "dual-wielding", and the new hacking mechanic.

Gran Turismo 5 PS3 Game Features Announced at GamesCom '09

258w ago - Today some new Gran Turismo 5 PS3 game features have been uncovered by GTPlanet.net (linked above) during GamesCom '09, and then mysteriously removed from Polyphony Digital's [Register or Login to view links].

From the Press Release: August 18, GamesCom, held in Cologne, Germany - Gran Turismo 5 has been announced!

Here is the latest information on the game design:

Models included
1,000 vehicles
170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)
830 kinds of standard model (some are from Gran Turismo 4 that have been carried over to GT5) [Read: Cars we have seen in GT4 before]

Courses
60 courses confirmed with 20 or more to be revealed

Physical simulation of vehicles
Physics system simulation is brand new
Represented is full fall in vehicles [possibly rollover]

Sony: PS3 Firmware 3.0 Features Just Wild Speculation

266w ago - Today IGN has published a statement from Sony's Product Publicity Rep on the rumored PS3 Firmware 3.0 features.

To quote: The worldwide Web is abuzz with another PlayStation 3 rumor. This one claims that PS3 Firmware 3.0 will be out by Christmas and bring a complete overhaul in the vein of the new Xbox Experience.

The rumor says you can expect background patch downloading, a reputation system, and more.

Sony says that's B.S. as follows:

"These rumors are completely untrue, nothing has been announced or confirmed for upcoming PlayStation firmware, and this is just wild speculation," said Jennifer Clark, director of SCEA product publicity.
 

PS3 Firmware 3.0 Rumored Features Are Detailed

266w ago - Although it is still some time away (Super_Secret predicts PS3 Firmware 3.0 won't be out during the summer, but before the holidays) the folks at VG247 (linked above) have uncovered some additional details on it.

To quote: The software upgrade has been described to us as "a huge overhaul", and was compared to NXE "in some respects".

The before-rumored reputation system will be included. We were told that, "A reputation system in which users will be able to evaluate each other will be provided for... game applications.

"There will be a new API available to so the user can... allow users and also obtain users' reputation."

A "grief reporting system" will be included in the update, allowing gamers to take screens of offensive players and submit them to Sony. Apparently this is going to be similar to the LBP system, and is likely to include a text input.

Firmware 3.0 will allow patches will be downloaded in the background, meaning you'll no longer have to sit staring at the screen while Random Shooter updates itself with a 500Mb fix.

Killzone 2 Patch 1.24 for PS3 - Fewer Bugs, More Features!

275w ago - To follow up on the previous Killzone 2 v1.24 patch details and their trailer from earlier today, Guerrilla Games Lead Online Game Designer Eric Boltjes shared the following update:

In a continuing effort to provide support for Killzone 2 Online, and to show you day-1 fans of Killzone that we mean business, we are very happy to announce the upcoming 1.24 patch.

This patch is the biggest one yet, and addresses a large number of reported issues, exploits and bugs - but it also adds new functionality to the game for you to enjoy!

I would like to highlight the fact that we are adding 3 new ranks to the game, reached at 5000, 10000 and 100000 points respectively. These ranks do not give any rewards but it allows the real hardcore players to show off their hard work to everyone in-game!

Other highlights include a new 17-24 player search game filter, enlarged HUD radar distance and a much requested "Join Clan Member" tab in the join game screen. The patch also allows you to play against the next batch of contenders: Japan, who will be able to buy their copies of Killzone...
