FBANext PS3 Emulator Port Updated to r490 for PS3 CFW

169w ago - It's been awhile since the previous release, and today I have compiled the latest FBANext MC68000/Z80 Arcade PS3 emulator port revision 490 for PS3 CFW 3.41 and 3.55 users.

FBANext r490 changes since 486:

  • Revision 490: (PS3) Ms. Pac-Man works again; reverted inconsequential PS3 ifdefs
  • Revision 489: [PS3] updated proj file
  • Revision 488: (PS3) Calculations in setview are no longer being done every frame, but done once outside the main emulation loop - the same goes for rotation.
  • Revision 487: (PS3) Build changes

PS364 Nintendo 64 Emulator for PS3 Development Update Details

169w ago - As a follow-up to their previous update, this weekend EmulateMii has confirmed that the PS364 Nintendo 64 Emulator for PS3 is still under development and has a near-complete hardware renderer.

We must start by saying that yes, it sure has been a while since our last update. Followers can rest assured though that we have been actively developing all of our projects in one way or another. As mentioned before, all three of us have very little time to work on this stuff due to real life commitments, but combined we seem to be getting things done at what we think is a decent pace.

WiiSX has seen some tinkering to try and get compatibility up, but has run into other issues. We have been keeping in sync with pcsx-reloaded whilst trying to maintain the PPC dynarec for it. Eventually we need to add more recompiled functions to the dynarec in WiiSX, particularly GTE. We initially wanted to do a full PPC dynarec re-write, but that doesn't seem feasible time-wise at the moment. Future plans for WiiSX also include porting a hardware renderer now that Pete's OpenGL plugin is open-sourced.

PCE Emu: PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 Emulator v1.4.0 for PS3 Out

170w ago - It's been awhile since the last update, but today the PCE Emu PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 emulator for PS3 version 1.4.0 is available for both 3.41 and 3.55 PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware.

To quote: PCE.emu is a PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 emulator written in C++ for Android, iOS, WebOS and PS3. It uses the emulation backend from Mednafen and is built on top of the Imagine engine. The source is released under the GPLv3 license.

  • Accurate emulation and high compatibility rate (Note: Data swapped TG16 roms are not supported, see known issues below for a fix if you're getting a black screen on load)

VBANext PS3 Gameboy / GBA Emulator Unofficial Build Arrives

180w ago - A few days back PlayStation 3 developer squarepusher2 announced that the Nintendo Gameboy / GBA Emulator PS3 Port known as VBA PS3 would soon become VBANext, and today subcon959 has made available an unofficial VBANext PKG file for PS3 users to try out while awaiting an official release.

Some recent changes from the SVN include the following:

  • (PS3) Auto-aspect ratio setting + plus more aspect ratios
  • (PS3) Cleaned up menu code some more.
  • (PS3) Cut down on some more menu code duplication
  • (PS3) Uses systemDrawScreen() macro now instead of IFDEF __CELLOS_LV2__ hackery to make a direct call to Graphics->Draw and psglSwap.

PS3 MAME Arcade Game Emulator GameOS Port is Released

184w ago - This weekend PlayStation 3 developer Robo Hobo has released an unofficial PS3 MAME arcade game emulator GameOS port preview of version 0.142.

Installing:

  • Install the psmame package onto your jailbroken PS3 using normal means.
  • By default all data paths for mame are located under /dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame_data.
  • ROMS themselves can be placed anywhere and their location chosen with the frontend. The recommended path is /dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame.

Default controls:

  • As of right now the only defined controls are R3 to open the MAME config menu, Select for coin, and Start for starting the game.
  • Further control changes can be made in the MAME config menu as needed.
  • Up to four controllers can be used at one time.

Frontend: The frontend can display screenshots of games, these should be placed in /dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame_data/snaps. You can find a full set at [Register or Login to view links]
