141w ago - Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Rey Gutierrez has shared a video today as part of their celebration dubbed Sony PlayStation: 15 Years In The Making.
To quote: Today we celebrate 15 Years of PlayStation, the gaming industry and most importantly, the PlayStation fan. It is an honor to officially kick off our celebration on the PlayStation.Blog with a retrospective journey and history lesson 15 years in the making.
The PlayStation, the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation Portable, the PlayStation 3 -- these aren't just names to Sony gaming products -- these are milestones in every gamers' coming of age story.
Twisted Metal, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Killzone and God of War, aren't just clever titles to PlayStation classics -- but defining moments in gaming history where PlayStation stands above the rest, delivering memorable experiences and jaw-dropping moments.
Sitting at PlayStation and being part of this amazing journey as a gamer and now working with the PlayStation team, I can't help but recollect my first encounter with Metal Gear Solid.
Within moments of popping in my PlayStation Underground disc, and booting the MGS demo -- I knew right there and then what I wanted to do with my life....
According to one individual with a highly questionable reputation, this concept project could work because PS1/PS2 discs are authenticated only once on the VSH though liblv2 and the PIC chip would just automate it.
However, if Sony updates liblv2.sprx and more specifically ps1rom.bin so the emulated mechacon is updated it could be patchable.
Finally, to roughly translate from the video's caption:
"This video montage shows the operation of the chip that we are developing to load copies of PS1 and PS2 (if you're retro) in the PS3.
• Improved network startups and various fixes
• Added internal HDD support (HDL format)
• Added the ability to choose the default menu (USB, NET, HDD games)
• Added the ability to use a valid disc ID for online games
• Added a fix for modchip freezing (maybe not all modchips)
• Many new game compatibility fixes
• Added IGR (In Game Reset) with a disable per game option
• Added Alphabetical Sorting
• Changed Settings categories
• Added page scrolling (R1/L1)
• Added support for user language files
• Network support...
162w ago - I did this cheap PS2 to PS3 Guitar Hero 3 adapter a few months back, but only about a month after I bought my PS3.
So, I bought my ps3, with GH3+guitar. I made a custom PS2 guitar a while back so I thought it would be nice to use with the PS3. A cheapoo PS2-usb adapter worked with the controllers, but not with the guitar.
To not start from scratch, I found a PS2-USB adaper at http://vusb.wikidot.com/projects2usb but needed some "finetune" to work as a guitar.
First: mine only support one controller/adapter
Second: the HID descriptor had to be modified (copied what was possible - due to limitations of slow USB device class)
I've dumped the descriptor of my guitar so you can experiment with it, if you want. Download: USB HID_gh3_n2.rar
And at last: added a code to switch the controller to analog mode, so the whammy should work too. (you can connect before or after the adapter is powered, no special combo needed)
Source, binary and etc (avs include absolute path!) Download: Source.rar
Results: the adapter works great, fast, virtually no lag BUT i was unable to identify why the star-power...
