Are More Gamers Now Choosing the PS3 Over the XBox 360?

550°
286w ago - We're not asking which console is "better" and it has nothing to do with sales. The question is designed for avid gamers and asks that if you consider every facet of a video game console purchase, would more hardcore gamers out there choose the PS3 over the 360 at this particular point in time?

When the PS3 first launched, no real gamer immediately went out and paid $600 for what the console offered that day. I'm not saying gamers who bought it on launch day made a bad decision, but their thought process would've been very different in 2006 than it would be now, in early 2009.

Then, I know people who bought the PS3 thinking, "this is going to give me my RPG fix." Now, as a big RPG fan, I find myself continually turning to the 360 for that. Then, I really had no intention of going online at all with the PS3; if I was going to do that, it would be with the superior Live service.

Now, I actually prefer the content on the PSN, and over the past few years, the free Network has made great strides. Then, the FPS and shooter fans all talked about Halo 3 and the impending Gears of War; now, Killzone 2 owns the headlines.

There's no doubt that things have changed significantly, so it'll be interesting to hear what people have to say. We have no choice but to view both systems in very different...

Killzone 2 Servers Are Now Live for PlayStation 3 Gamers

400°
287w ago - When I looked at my friend list on the PSN I was shocked! There were already playing 14 out of the 18 (who were online at the PSN) Killzone 2.

That is very impressive because the game will released the day after tomorrow. Also, there are already 14,300 players who played the Killzone 2 multiplayer for PS3!

How about you friends? How many people play the game with you?

I have to wait because I have the game ordered from an English shop, but until that time I have fun with Resistance 2!

Sony is Working Harder for Gamers Than Microsoft and Nintendo

250°
291w ago - We all know who is winning the console war, but who is putting more effort into their gaming division? We break down the basics in each company's work efforts, and showed what each company has to deal with in the gaming industry.

Advertising:
Everyone knows that Microsoft is doing an excellent job with their advertising campaign. You see their advertisements all over national television, stores, and even in some cases on Mountain Dew (Halo 3). Nintendo does not advertise to quite the extent of Microsoft, but that there really is no need for it.

The Wii already has ridiculous sales and there is no need for Nintendo to waste their money on marketing. Everyone already knows what the Wii is about and putting commercials everywhere would be useless. And then comes Sony.

We all know that Sony is not on the ball with their marketing but I feel we will begin to see changes this year. We have already seen them advertise to the max with the Winter X-Games and I look for it to continue. Especially with titles like Killzone 2, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, and much more expected this year.

Microsoft:
Microsoft currently only has to deal with one platform, the Xbox 360. With one console, they have to work on games for that console as well as bring out...

Stupidity of the Console War: Did Gamers Lose Their Hearts?

100°
293w ago - While browsing YouTube I found this video. The person I saw on it (Bluty3000) was someone who I use to watch on my old account. So I decided to check his video out Labeled "Console War".

In his video he pretty much sums up how I feel about the console war as well.

He calls anyone who takes the console war so seriously that they act like a console is their child, is annoying and should take a good look at them selves.

Below are the videos, be warned however a portion of the content is mature and some users may be offended by it.

Chinese Gamers Will Have to Give Real Names to Play Online?

50°
293w ago - According to China Daily, China is to start requiring gamers to register for online games with their real names!

It isn't confirmed when this new policy will go live, but it sounds pretty drastic if it is indeed true.

To quote: The government will start real-name registration for online game players this year, said Zhang Yijun, director of the General Administration of Press and Publication's technology and digital publication department.

Four online game companies' operations have been suspended after it was found that their software did not have the mandatory anti-addiction system, he said in Qingdao on Wednesday.
