Video: PS Vita TV Device Unveiled at SCE Japan Press Conference 2013

53w ago - At SCE's Japan Press Conference 2013 Sony unveiled a PS Vita TV device alongside a video of it in action below.

To quote from Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman: This afternoon in Tokyo (11:00pm tonight, Pacific Time), [Register or Login to view links] is holding a press conference to make some announcements of interest to Japanese gamers.

The presentation is tailored specifically for the Japan and Asian regions, and the news here will not necessarily be relevant for North American gamers.

Nonetheless, we're happy to host a livestream of the event here in case you wanted a glimpse into what's next for PlayStation fans in the East.

The show is set to kick off at 11:00pm Pacific Time, and will feature a live English translation. Enjoy!

PPC Compiler for Compiling PowerPC to OpCodes for PS3 Development

54w ago - Today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer Choco made available a PPC Compiler for compiling PowerPC (Performance Optimization With Enhanced RISC Performance Comp) instructions to OpCodes for PS3 development and modding with details below.

To quote: This is a tool I created for compiling PowerPC instructions into OpCodes. This is EXTREMELY useful for PS3 modding, as all PS3 .elfs are PowerPC. This is a PPU compiler, so it will compile opcodes that will work for any PS3 game application (or xbox .xex files).

How to use:

1. Enter your instructions in the box on the left.
2. Enter the address that you will be injecting the opcodes at in the Start Address box (note, this is the address from IDA/Memory, not the HxD address).
3. Click the compile button.
4. Copy the opcodes from the rightmost box and paste them into your elf at the appropriate address.

To designate a register, put a "%" symbol in front of it. For example:

57w ago - Following up on his previous release, today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer SvenGDK has made available XMBPC PS3 System Update v1.1 followed by v1.1.1 and v1.1.2 and v1.1.3 with the changelogs detailed below.

59w ago - Following up on his previous releases and XMBPC Toolbox v2, today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer SvenGDK has made available XMBPC PS3 System Update v1.0.9 with the changelog detailed below.

To quote: Changelog XMBPC 1.0.9:

  • Preparing for new stable release
  • Changed some things in "Check for updates" to work with the new updater
  • Minor bugfixes

This is also a little "test" to try the new updater.

Update via "Check for updates" or try the new updater.

Drag and drop [Register or Login to view links] (UPDATE_v108_v109.PKG) into the updater (RIGHT-CLICK -> SAVE TARGET AS!)

You can grab the new updater from: luxdev.de/XMBPCE/ , place it into your XMBPC directory and wait until an update is available.

The new updater (XMBPC Updater.exe) allows updating outside XMBPC. Just open the application, drag&drop the new provided UPDATE.PKG file into the updater and click start.

64w ago - Following up on his previous updates, today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer SvenGDK has released XMBPC Toolbox v2 which is a PC XMB (Xcross Media Bar) clone with the changes outlined below.
