53w ago - Lucid Games Creative Director Craig Howard has officially introduced Travel Bug today, a new discovery application for PS Vita users.
To quote: We are really excited to present Travel Bug, a new PS Vita Discovery app available for free download later today.
The premise of Travel Bug is simple. You first hatch a bug, then name it, then, using near, send it out on an adventure. Once it's out in the real world, you will get regular updates as it meets strangers on its travels until it comes back to your PS Vita.
So let's talk about the intrepid explorers: the Travel Bugs.
The first time you start the app, you will see a little larvae sitting on a leaf of your Home Tree. Tap it and it will hatch your first Travel Bug. You can name it and dress it up with items from the bug shop, then it's time to send it out on its first adventure.
Although you start with just one bug, you can then go hunting for others. If you hit sync in the game, you will activate near, which will gather any nearby bugs and pop them in your net. Here you can check out the bugs and decide if you want to help them out on a journey.
All of the bugs that you help will appear on spare leaves on your home tree where you can tap on them and find out more about them, and even see if...
55w ago - Codemasters Game Designer Simon Berry has posted up a video today showcasing a kart makeover in F1 Race Stars below.
To quote: Codemasters are well known for creating racing games with lots of depth, and in many ways our brief for F1 Race Stars (out on PS3 November 20th today) was no different.
When designing the game's structure we intended to provide ongoing variety as crucially as the instant appeal you'd expect from a "karting" game.
Firstly, along with the typical race event, we have introduced a host of other modes of racing. There are eight in total, each requiring unique skills and strategy – some will feel instantly familiar to gamers, and some will feel entirely fresh and unique.
For example, we've introduced Refuel mode - based on the principles of fuel strategy in F1, where fuel re-stocks are placed around the track, but carrying less fuel means more speed. Or Trophy Chase mode, a smash and grab event where players collect trophies, found both on the track and stolen from other drivers.
Gamers should feel instantly at home with other modes such as Sector Snatch mode, where players can own sectors of each track by setting the fastest split time though it, or racing in a classic Elimination mode.
56w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has shared a Dead Space 3 interview with fans today announcing that the Sci-fi Survival Horror Multiplayer game is getting a make-over.
Below are the details, to quote: Next February sees the release of the third main entry in EA's critically lauded sci-fi survival horror series, Dead Space.
While the first two games followed very similar templates, the latest installment really mixes things up by introducing full co-op play to the main campaign.
The optional drop-in, drop-out multiplayer lets a second player join in the story as new character Sergeant John Carver. While the game is fully playable as a solo experience, if you play with friend you'll have an expanded story and get to experience a number of extra sequences and set-pieces.
We sat down with the game's producer Steve Papoutsis to find out how - and why - developer Visceral Games has implemented this new system and what fans of the series can expect from reluctant hero Isaac Clarke's latest adventure.
PlayStation.Blog: What goals did you set yourself when you first started work on Dead Space 3?
