155w ago - A few days ago we reported on Sony's new PS3 / PSN site, and today TheSixthAxis.com (linked above) points out that it may be in preparation for an official PSN Smartphone application incoming.
To quote: What about a PSN smart phone App that will let you log in to your account on the go, queue up downloads, and generally always be connected to your PlayStation profile?
TSA reader bap10 thought he might enquire, asking SCEE:
Do you think we will ever see a mobile phone app for logging into the PSN to send messages and push demos and bought items to the PS3? Or even something along those lines for the PC?
Sony's response? Emmanuel Orssaud replied:
"I've got another post planned for this week which should answer your questions about the app. *wink*"
158w ago - Today Virtual Air Guitar Company CEO Teemu Maki-Patola has announced news of an official launch date for Kung-Fu LIVE alongside a new PS3 video trailer.
To quote: After months of demo events across the world from gamescom in Germany to PAX Prime in Seattle, combined with THOUSANDS of cumulative man-hours for our small independent team in Finland, burning the midnight oil and sweating like crazy play-testing our game, we're FINALLY ready to break the news right back here where we started.
What better way to do that than with an all-new trailer? Have a peek at the clip below to see what people have being saying all year, and get the leg up on exactly when you too can literally step into the world of Kung-Fu LIVE and lay the smack down in your living room!
That's right! If you're in Europe, then you can download your way into the action on 8th December. We know it's been a long time coming, and we've always wanted to get this game to you before the last of the leaves hit the ground in 2010.
So, as soon as it's officially too cold to practice your kung-fu moves outside, you'll get an indoor option that will also transport you to a far off land of street thugs, ninja assassins, and four story-tall giants looking to...
For starters, there's our spectacular cover story: inFamous 2. We spent a full day with the fine folks at Sucker Punch, seeing aspects of the game that no one outside of the studio has ever witnessed, and getting a chance to go hands-on with Cole MacGrath in new areas of the New Orleans-inspired setting.
All the electrifying details are revealed inside our lavish 10-page feature, along with world-exclusive screens, juicy new tidbits about the story, and a guided tour of New Marais' first island.
We've also scored a big scoop with the first hands-on with Mass Effect 2 on PS3, including details on how developer BioWare will ease us PlayStation gamers into their epic sci-fi RPG (since the original game wasn't released on PS3). Nifty stuff.
And it wouldn't be a holiday issue if there wasn't a gift guide....
162w ago - Today Sony's Deputy Editor Leon Hurley has shared a preview at what is included in PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 51.
To quote: This week I've been playing an inordinate amount of Borderlands and Fallout New Vegas. The main things I've learned are that I'll pretty much do anything for XP, and I like guns that set people on fire. Probably shouldn't admit that last one out loud. Anyway, on to the mag!
We've got loads of good stuff this month. Like interviews with Quantic Dream's David Cage (talking about what's next after Heavy Rain) and Ninja Theory's Tameem Antoniades (talking about the new look Dante in Devil May Cry).
However, our mega interview is a double whammy of Suda51 and Shinji Mikami. The legendary developers talk about their new game, Shadow of the Damned, as well as each other's bad habits and whether they'll ever start a band.
Preview-wise we've got new info on the sexy/weird Catherine from Persona dev Atlus, Resistance 3, Alice: Madness Returns, the Ico and Shadow Of Colossus HD remakes, and The Last Guardian.
Although the big news is our final word on Call Of Duty: Black Ops. I wandered off to visit Treyarch in LA to see the latest on the game, including playing it 3D, which was all sorts of wow. Plus I grilled...
164w ago - The members over at the Spanish forums Elotrolado.net (linked above) state that they have been testing the new official PS JailBreak Backup Manager v1.1 for PS3 and have the following feedback thus far, to quote:
"I am currently trying the new Backup Manager v1.1 now.
I will update you on its new functionalities.
More information soon.
• Allows you to play your backups without a disc.
• Works with current clones.
• Current Backed up/Ripped games with version 1.0 do not work. We must re-do the ripping via version v1.1
• Faster reading/backing up (rip).
PS: I have noticed that the game compatibility has increased significantly. At the moment they all work. Interesting..."
