163w ago - Previously it was reported that shinhalsafar started work on an FCEU NES emulator port for PlayStation 3, and today Robo Hobo has shared a WIP of his Nestopia (NES emulator) and Gambatte (Gameboy Color emulator) PS3 ports for JailBroken consoles.
Note: When upgrading do not delete your old version, it will delete any savegames you've made. Just choose install package, when it tells you the current version is already installed just tell it to install anyway.
• Settings are remembered between sessions
• Option to underscan output, up to 10% for nestopia and 50% for gambatte
• Option to enable Vsync and Linear Filtering(to reduce scaling artifacts, in exchange for blurriness)
164w ago - Just under a month ago we reported on an SNES emulator for PS3 under GameOS, and today PSGroove reports that work has started on an FCEU NES emulator port for PlayStation 3 JailBreak users as well!
For those unaware, FCEU (previously known as FCE Ultra) is an open source Nintendo Entertainment System and Family Computer Disk System emulator.
To quote: According to google code, it seems a user by the name of shinhalsafar has begun work on an NES emulator for the PS3.
The project seems to be less than 24 hours old, so it may take some time before something playable is released. However, we look forward to seeing what shinhalsafar has to offer.
• initial commit
• fceu codebase added
• Makefile ready
• pkg directory made
• basic main routine setup to start cell calls
• compiles but no NES emulation yet.
• this build no longer compiles. half way into getting fceu to compile properly.
• added utils (unzip and 7zip)
• Makefile attempts to compile all fceu code base now
• a lot of small changes to get this...
173w ago - It's been quite some time since the last Nintendo Wii leak we reported on, and recently some more Wii RVT Dev Tools have leaked to the Internet from release group OneUp including the System Menu Changer Disk and more!
To quote from MLRX at GBATemp.net (linked above) on the leaked file details:
178w ago - According to THQ's VP Ian Curran in a recent interview with CVG (linked above) new anti-piracy technology utilized in the 3DS will be foolproof to cracks from illegal downloaders alongside digital distribution.
He stated that the "problem with the DS market in the last few years, particulary with the DS Lite, is that it's just been attacked by piracy."
Plans also include using the 3DS to move Nintendo's digital distribution forward according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata via Siliconera.com, to quote:
"We are thinking the release of new hardware should be good timing for a dramatic improvement of this situation. In addition to the function of '3D graphics without 3D glasses,' Nintendo 3DS will have enhanced wireless communication function.
Nintendo 3DS will receive various pieces of information automatically if there is a chance of communication while a user carries it even when he or she does not try to start communication pro-actively by unfolding Nintendo 3DS. By combining Nintendo 3DS with such function, we are now planning to expand our digital-distribution type of business."
