Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter Stomps Onto PS3 Next Week

50°
53w ago - Vogster Entertainment LLC Project Lead Artem Kuryavchenko confirmed today that Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter stomps onto PS3 next week.

To quote: Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter was recently released in North America, and we have been more than happy to see the gamers' response. Since then we have gathered tons of user feedback and made a lot of improvements to gameplay, tweaking and polishing the game balance. And now we're excited to have the game out in Europe.

Carnivores HD is a realistic hunting simulator which brings you to beautiful islands and lets you hunt for the most dangerous creatures that have ever existed. You'll get a chance to track down Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Ceratosaurus and a T-Rex! There are also flying Pteranodons, small and peaceful Gallimimuses and cute tiny Pelecanimimuses roaming around.

Each location is a different island about four square kilometers in size, and features a unique environment. There are deserts, jungles and deep forests. Each level comes in three variations: daytime, evening, and misty.

Being a hunting simulator, the game renders wildlife realistically. Animals make use of natural senses - sight, hearing, smell - that are unique to each creature. Dinosaurs behave differently depending on the environment,...

Video: Atomic Ninjas is Out Next Week for PS3 and PlayStation Vita

50°
63w ago - Grip Games CEO Jakub Mikyska announced that Atomic Ninjas is due out next week for both PS3 and PlayStation Vita platforms.

To quote: Hey everybody! This is Jakub, from Grip Games. Our long-awaited, multiplayer action platformer, Atomic Ninjas, is finally cutting its way to PS3 and PS Vita next week on PlayStation Store, Cross Buy and Cross Save, for $9.99.

We're happy to reveal that, contrary to a previous announcement, both the PS3 and PS Vita versions will be released simultaneously on October 8th - as all the evil ninjas sabotaging the launch were apprehended and beheaded

For those of you who not yet familiar with Atomic Ninjas, it's a hilarious, 2.5D platformer with a focus on multiplayer matches, both online and local. But single-player mode is also present, including vicious ninja-bots!

The most important gameplay feature is that you won't be able to directly kill your opponents. Instead, you have to use the arenas themselves to get rid of the competition. Who needs guns when you have lava, acid pools, and laser walls?

Your goal will be to push other ninjas into these environmental hazards and, of course, stay out of them yourself. This creates a completely new twist on gameplay, where you have to outmaneuver and outsmart your opponents.

Video: Assassin's Creed IV on PS4: A Truly Next-Gen Experience

66w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Gabriel Graziani posted up a video today showcasing Assassin's Creed IV on PS4, proclaiming it is a truly next-gen experience on PlayStation 4.

To quote: A lot of people have asked us what kinds of technical advancements can be expected from Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag on PS4, so we asked Associate Producer Sylvain Trottier to give us a couple of examples...

He went a little nuts, and delivered an entire video detailing a ton of improvements.

CAUTION: Things are about to get a little techy, so put on your coder hats!

Some of the highlights include our use of real Beaufort scale waves for a realistic ocean and the new sea engine, which follows real world physics. Complex shaders work to give the ocean that translucent appearance.

Each raindrop is an individually lit object, puddles accurately mirror the world around them and volumetric fog accepts and reflects light from different sources. Dynamic Navmeshes (three dimensional objects you can run around on) ensure that you can jump from one ship to another without encountering weird collision issues, and can seamlessly interact between two ships involved in a boarding action.

We can use the...

Video: The Dark Sorcerer: A Next-Gen Comedy E3 2013 Trailer

50°
79w ago - Quantic Dream Director David Cage announced news today on The Dark Sorcerer: a next-gen comedy at E3 2013 alongside a video trailer below.

To quote: We Love Prototypes

In 2005, Quantic Dream started working on a short film in real-time 3D called The Casting, using the PS3 graphic engine we had just developed.

Our initial objective was to make a technical prototype to test the limits and performance of this new engine, but Sony, with whom we had not yet started working, quickly encouraged us to present it publicly at its booth at E3 in order to illustrate the graphic potential of the PS3, which was launched that same year.

Everything we learned from making the short, particularly the immense difficulty of creating emotion in real time, but also the importance of the actor's performance, facial motion capture, the challenge of lip synchronization and especially eye animation, would enable us to develop Heavy Rain.

After this somewhat fortuitous first effort (which succeeded in attracting the attention of the press and players, and largely contributed to creating interest in the small French company that is Quantic Dream), the idea of making it a recurrent principle quickly developed.

After all, our prestigious and infinitely more talented...
