242w ago - According to a self-proclaimed 'game developer' known as seven-biho27 of the PS3Spot.de forums (linked above), Sony is planning on including a gamer skills level in the next PS3 Firmware update for others to see and compare with friends, based off percentage levels and trophies.
It is believed to work by calculating how good a person is at certain types of games.
Here is an example:
Sevr786 (Gaming Skills)
Racing Skills... 92%
Strategy Skills... 80%
Sport Skills... 0% (no data)
Intelligence (Puzzle Probably)... 24%
Fighting Skills... 28%
Type of Gamer: DRIVER
Gamers Net Worth: £4,800,200
At the moment this is being labeled as just a rumor, but feel free to share your thoughts on it below in the comments!
256w ago - IGN has had a private viewing of Kodu for Microsoft's XBox 360 console, and reports back that its creation tools are much more robust and in depth than those offered in Sony's LittleBigPlanet.
With Kodu you can build worlds from scratch, but fear not as casual players can get playing quickly with a set of pre-designed configurations.
To quote: While comparisons have already been made to efforts such as LittleBigPlanet, Kodu's creation tools are much more robust, its depth - demonstrated to us in a private suite on Friday - staggering.
This, because Kodu doesn't merely enable users to arrange a series of templates, but build worlds from scratch, setting their shapes and sizes, placing objects and inhabitants, devising sets of characteristics, behavioral logics, and more.
Casual players will be able to jump into the experience easily using a series of pre-designed configurations. Those with a little more determination, though, will be able to build their experiences ground-up. Microsoft calls it visual programming and having seen it in action Kodu seems to deliver just.
257w ago - Some users are reporting a terrible glitch in LittleBigPlanet which affects the game's save data. According to this forum post, random things will go missing from one's save.
For example, progress in the MGS4 level pack may disappear. "I've completed all five acts, and when I turned off the power and played again, all that was unlocked was Act 1-3. However, my scores from Act 4 and 5 were still in place- it's just that I need to unlock them all over again as well as collect the prize bubbles," says SuperPhillip.
The more frightening consequence of this bug is the deletion of user-created content. "I lost four costumes and she lost all 12 of her saved costumes, as well as losing the level status. Also we found that all of our community and saved photos were erased too," says justsayno2girls.
Some are theorizing that the glitch is caused by bloated profile data. Since the release of the game, players have collected tons of objects from community members. The MGS pack also adds a large amount of data to one's profile. The game may be automatically deleting content when a profile gets too large.
Considering its the holiday season right now, Media...
258w ago - Developer Jonathon Blow has implied that there is a possibility of Braid making its way to the PlayStation 3 console.
He commented, that it certainly is a posibility but depends on whether Sony is interested in bringing it over to their platform.
To quote: First off, developer Jonathon Blow lets us know that the PC version of Braid should be available between February and March next year. This is to let the game have some space and avoid the crowded Christmas market.
Secondly, he's in talks to develop a native-Mac version of the game, so you Apple folks won't be left out.
Finally, although there are no plans for other platform releases in the near future, a later PlayStation 3 version is possible. Jonathon Blow comments;
"[As] I've mentioned before, a PS3 version a little later on remains a possibility (though again, this depends on whether Sony is interested in the game)."
