Video: King Oddball Ends The World Launches on PS Vita Today

14w ago - 10tons PR Coordinator Jaakko Maaniemi shared a fresh video announcing that King Oddball Ends The World launches on PS Vita today.

To quote: Greetings from still miraculously snowless Finland, PlayStation Blog readers! This week 10tons is back with another game to PS Vita, and what a game it is.

I'm quite frankly not sure what to say about King Oddball. Or, King Oddball Ends the World, as the full name goes in all its glory. The game is a bit peculiar, you see. You're probably better off trying the free trial.

While it's technically true that King Oddball falls in the same physics-based puzzle category as Angry Birds, the fruitfulness of the comparison doesn't last long. Sure, you lob objects at things in both games, but that's largely as far as the similarities go.

First of all, King Oddball is a bit weird. What the heck the titular main character even is? What is he a king of? Why is his tongue so absurdly long and stretchy? Why is he in such a foul mood? Your guess is as good as mine. All I know is the eccentric art style and accordion-heavy soundtrack fit the game perfectly.

Gameplay-wise, and this is probably the part everyone is the most interested in, King Oddball is equally uncommon:...

Hands-on with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on PlayStation 4

200°
15w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements is back with a hands-on peek with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on PlayStation 4 below!

To quote: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is not a simple, upscaled version of last year's critically-acclaimed adventure. It's a colossal effort, soaked in visual enhancements and technical optimizations. Just when we thought Lara Croft hit her peak, she keeps on climbing.

One of the first challenges Crystal Dynamics faced was Lara herself - even though the team had smashed expectations with the impressive original game. A new head and face model have been implemented in this portrayal of Lara, bringing new life to the legendary heroine.

Among the torrent of improvements made, the developers worked with subsurface scattering technology on Lara's skin. This means light will actually pierce the top layer of her skin and diffuse, giving it a realistic glow.

Lara's equipment has also been given abundant attention. Her bow and pickaxe clatter, bob, and move with her body, giving her entire character a renewed sense of authenticity. She sweats and bleeds like the best of us when put under extreme duress, and the remarkable animation and voice work continue to instill Lara with life.

There was no slowing down for Crystal Dynamics after...

PlayStation Plus Update: Borderlands 2 Free for PS Plus Members

100°
19w ago - Sony Senior Community Specialist Kristine Steimer revealed this weeks PlayStation Plus updates today, which include Borderlands 2 free for PS Plus members.

To quote: Borderlands 2, one of 2012's most critically acclaimed titles, is entering the Instant Game Collection tomorrow. Pick one of four new vault hunters (I went with Maya the Siren) and grab your randomly generated weapon, 'cause a pesky psychopath called Handsome Jack is terrorizing the world of Pandora (but hey, he does it in style).

Borderlands 2 excels in co-op mode, so team up with up some friends to explore the land. There are plenty of things to mow down for experience points and nothing feels better than a rare loot drop, plus you can customize your character to dish out more damage or provide support for you & your friends.

You can take advantage of all these PS Plus benefits after PlayStation Store updates tomorrow.

Borderlands 2 (PS3)
Free for PS Plus members

A new era of shoot and loot is about to begin. Play as one of four new vault hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack.

Make new friends, arm them with a bazillion weapons and fight alongside them in 4 player co-op or split-screen on a relentless...

22w ago - Realta Entertainment Game Director Jon Heiner announced that BandFuse: Rock Legends is out today on PS3.

To quote: BandFuse: Rock Legends takes everything that was great with plastic guitar games - addictive gameplay, the music you love, instant playability - and makes it work for real instruments on your PS3.

If you ever wanted to sing, play bass, or guitar, and wished all those hours of pressing red, red, green could translate into real music, look no further.

We're going to take an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the craft involved in-level design, challenge ramping, and song transcription. If you're already familiar with BandFuse, feel free to skip down to the exclusive bits. But first let's talk about a few of the core features behind BandFuse: Rock Legends.

The Legends

One of the many things that sets BandFuse: Rock Legends apart is the host of artists supporting and participating in the game. Slash, Bootsy Collins, and Zakk Wylde (among others) have lent their amazing skill and experience in the form of songs, interviews, instruction and more.

These artists are behind BandFuse: Rock Legends because it is the most authentic rock and roll experience you can have on consoles. Within the game, they entertain, guide, and instruct you...
