Microsoft Blocks Unauthorized XBox 360 Storage Devices

257w ago - Update: According to [Register or Login to view links], Datel has now filed an antitrust lawsuit in San Francisco federal court against Microsoft over their incompatible Max Memory cards.

Today Microsoft's Major Nelson has warned that next week's XBox 360 update will see the blocking of unauthorized storage devices such as the [Register or Login to view links] or [Register or Login to view links].

To quote: When Preview Program members start receiving the Xbox 360 system update next week, one of the changes is that unauthorized Memory Units will no longer work with the Xbox 360.

If you've moved your profile or saved games onto one to "back it up," you'd better move it back onto an authorized Xbox 360 storage device prior to taking the update.

If you continue to use an unauthorized Memory Unit after the update, you will not be able to access your stored profile or saved games.

Microsoft Rep Confirms EA Purchase Rumor is False

260w ago - Following yesterday's rumor of a THQ takeover by EA came another, this time [Register or Login to view links] that Microsoft is eyeing EA.

Citing information from traders, a Reuters report said there was "unsubstantiated talk" that Microsoft (MSFT) is interested in buying the publisher of the Madden, Medal of Honor and FIFA series.

However, Microsoft spokesman David Dennis has already dispelled the rumor that they are interested in buying the major videogame publisher.

To quote: "There is no truth to this rumor," he said in an e-mail to SeattlePI.com, "we have no plans to purchase EA."

Microsoft to Release 250GB Modern Warfare 2 XBox 360 Bundle

261w ago - Microsoft is set to release a limited edition Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 console on November 10th.

In addition to the unique look, the console will also pack a 250GB hard drive (cannot be purchased separately), two wireless controllers, a headset and a standard copy of Modern Warfare 2.

Rumor: Microsoft is Planning a 250GB XBox 360 Bundle?

264w ago - Recently two different retailers released a listing for a new Xbox 360 bundle with a substantial hard drive boost.

Amazon Germany [Register or Login to view links] a 250GB Xbox 360 Elite as well as South African site [Register or Login to view links], both with the same new SKU.

To quote: XboxGaming reports (via [Register or Login to view links]), a sales sheet from BT Games shows what they call a "Super Elite" 360 bundle, which comes with a 250GB hard drive and two wireless controllers packed in, for R4199.95 ($646).

XboxGaming further reports that they confirmed with "local 360 distributor" Comztek that this bundle is indeed coming, along with one that also includes Turn-10's upcoming Forza Motorsport 3 as well.

All this comes only a day after Amazon Germany posted a listing for a new 360 bundle that similarly comes with a 250GB hard drive, two controllers, and Forza 3.
