Media Molecule: Less Than 200 LittleBigPlanet Levels Moderated

50°
298w ago - Just under two days ago we reported that some LittleBigPlanet Custom Levels were being moderated (deleted) due to EULA violations.

Today, Media Molecule Dev Sam_Protagonist has posted on the LittleBigPlanet Workshop the following clarification:

Oasis is the name both of a band and of a soft drink (at least in Europe), however any level using the title "Oasis" would be absolutely fine right now unless it included music by Oasis the band, or the likeness of the drinks bottle.

There is a lot of exaggeration at play here with exactly what's going on with moderation. Firstly, no level is moderated unless it has been reported using the Good Grief tool, at which point it will only be blocked from online play if it is in violation of the EULA.

To date there have been fewer than 200 levels which have been blocked - considerably less than 0.5% of all the levels published. The great majority of moderated levels were removed due to containing obscenity.

Secondly, even if a level is moderated you will still be able to access it offline on your moon, and make changes if you know where the problem was, before republishing.

Finally, if your level is moderated...

Media Molecule Confirms New LittleBigPlanet Levels in the Works

50°
299w ago - In addition to today's earlier LittleBigPlanet DLC announcement, Associate Producer Eric Fong has confirmed that it will continue to add to the LittleBigPlanet experience by bringing out new levels, costumes, materials and a variety of other content.

To quote:

GamePro: Will Media Molecule continue to release new levels?

Eric Fong: Yes, Media Molecule is continuing to add to the player experience with new levels, costumes, materials, and a host of other content.

How will you ensure that players find the best user-created levels?

There is a slew of metrics we monitor to help point players in the right direction, including how many people have "Hearted" a level and/or creator, how often a level is played, user comments, "tagging" etc. The cream will literally rise to the top as popular levels take up more real-estate in the game.

300w ago - As posted on their official Web site (linked above), Media Molecule has stated that they are powering up their LittleBigPlanet servers for PlayStation 3 today for those who managed to get a copy of LittleBigPlanet early.

To quote:

"Cables have been connected, switches have haven flicked and buttons have been pressed. The servers are on, let the sharing commence!

W00t!"

In short, this means online features including the ability to share user-created levels with friends are now accessible. Cool news indeed for eager LBP fans!

Media Molecule is Shellshocked about LBP Delay, Patch is Ready

50°
301w ago - Media Molecule has posted that they are "shellshocked and gutted" about the Little Big Planet delay. However, they have also indicated a patch is completed and Sony will announce firm details on a release date for each region soon.

To quote: As some of you may have noticed, LBP has been slightly delayed in some territories. At MM we were as shocked and dismayed by this as anyone - shellshocked and gutted. We can't wait for you all to get playing and creating!

Thanks for all of your comments and support! It's been a tough time for gamers, LBP fans, and MM alike! but it seems that there's only about 1 week to wait - so thankyou for your patience. It'll be worth it!

We were waiting to hear from Sony on the new release dates and so we held off on an update until now. They've pulled out all the stops to keep the delay down, so now we can let you all know the details.

In the US LittleBigPlanet will begin shipping the week of October 27th and so depending how close your nearest shop is to the trucks you may have your hands on a copy that very day. We would love to hear where/who manages to get it first! Leave a comment!

In the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand LittleBigPlanet should start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday...

Media Molecule: Goodbye LittleBigPlanet BETA

50°
302w ago - Twenty days ago, Sony released the LittleBigPlanet BETA version to those lucky enough to have the right code. The Internet went nuts over these keys, crashing a few big sites that offered access to the BETA.

As soon as the first batch of keys was sent, gamers got into create mode and built some amazing levels and objects. Playing, creating and sharing became a daily ritual for many LBP fans around the world.

Now the BETA is closed. It won't work anymore and you'll have to delete it soon. The problem is you can't replace it with the full game yet.

The launch date is still 10 days away, 10 long and boring days without LittleBigPlanet to put a smile on our faces.
