Is Microsoft's XBox 360 Making Fewer Waves in the Industry?

100°
284w ago - In a follow-up to an article published earlier today, it seems that Microsoft has taken a back seat in making 'waves' in the gaming industry... most of which are PS3 exclusives as of late.

Now before the XBox 360 fanboys out there chew up this article and spit it out, hear me out... Earlier in the life cycle of the XBox 360, there were games released that were praised and adored for the technology and visuals they brought to gaming, one of which was 'Gears of War', this highly intense Third Person shooter was epic in every sense of the word, no pun intended.

'Gears of War' was THE game to own an XBox 360 for, with XBox 360 owners using it as a tool for arguments against PS3 users, who argued their system was more "powerful".

Everything from the games' graphics to it's cover-centric gameplay was brilliant, and indeed one of the many reasons the original 'Gears of War' was hyped for, was it's visuals. However after the release of the sequel, 'Gears of War 2', which saw noticeable visual improvements to the first, the XBox 360 has wittered out of the race to console visual superiority.

What am I saying? well if you take a look at the main set of upcoming games for the PlayStation...

Disney Making New Tr2n Game And Tron Movie Slated for 2011?

50°
286w ago - Disney Interactive Studios is rumored to be developing a brand new Tron game, said to be released to tie-in with the new Tron movie in 2011.

If true, it is certainly going to make a lot of sci-fi geeks and gamers 'of a certain age' very happy indeed.

To quote: Disney releases the sequel to 1982's videogame-themed Tron, currently under the working title of Tr2n, in 2011.

The rumors that a game is also in development emerged from [Register or Login to view links] in Hollywood trade paper Variety, backed up by reports over on The Cut Scene blog ramping up belief in the (not really majorly surprising) rumor that a Tr2n game is in development.

Disney Interactive Studios recently laid off 30 staff at Propaganda Games (the creators of last year's Turok) and have merged two of their six internal developers, Fall Line and Avalanche, to focus on games based on Disney animated films.

Films like Tr2n perhaps? Although we would imagine Propaganda, with its focus on adult-themed games, might be better placed to handle dev duties on this one...

Stay tuned for official confirmation (or denial)...

Rumor: Blue Castle Making Dead Rising 2 for XBox 360

100°
298w ago - A source close to Canadian developer Blue Castle Games has told Eurogamer that the studio is making a sequel to Dead Rising.

Rumors that the Vancouver-based outfit was working on the zombie project first emerged last year, but neither the developer nor publisher Capcom has confirmed anything on the record.

But while Eurogamer was on a secret mission in Vancouver last week, we were told by a source familiar with the project that Capcom has indeed farmed out development to the Western team.

The source said: "Everyone's really excited; the team has obviously seen the rumors and it's been hard to keep quiet, but they can't wait to show off the game."

Unfortunately, they wouldn't give us any details on the title or when we're likely to see it. Boo.

Blue Castle has so far released two baseball titles with 2K Games, including The Bigs, and announced MLB Front Office Manager earlier this month.

The company describes itself on its website as "a full-service, multi-project and multi-platform 3rd party developer located in Vancouver, Canada", where: "We are well underway on three new projects - an unannounced Action title and two Sports titles one of which was just announced."

Our source confirmed that the action title is a sequel to the deliciously...

New York Rangers' PlayStation Line Making a Big Impression

50°
302w ago - The New York Rangers has had its best start to a season since the 1989-90 season, and it appears practicing with the team via NHL '09 is partly to thank.

Players Brandon Dubinsky, Nikolai Zherdev, and Aaron Voros found that putting each other in the same line worked well in the NHL video game and in real life too. They have dubbed the tactic the "PlayStation Line".

To quote: With a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, the Rangers have started 3-0 for the first time since the 1989-90 season.

But more then the team's record that is creating a buzz among Rangers fans.

Three players–Brandon Dubinsky, 22, Nikolai Zherdev, 23, and Aaron Voros, 27–played a game for the ages. Dubinsky had a goal and two assists, Zherdev had a goal and an assist, and Voros had a goal and as assist.

Not only were they playing great offensively, but all were getting involved physically, and used solid defensive play to transition to offense. It's the kind of energetic, youthful effort that Ranger fans have been wanting for a very long time.

The name "PlayStation Line" is starting to catch on. This started when Dubinsky invited Voros over to play PlayStation. They started playing NHL and Aaron told Brandon to put them on the same line. Next day in practice,...
