228w ago - The Wii isn't the most powerful piece of hardware out there. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are more powerful, but Nintendo's machine is still putting up a fight.
Now Telltale Games has come into the picture and trashed the Wii's horsepower because of some complaints that the Wii version of Monkey Island has some framerate problems.
To quote: A Telltale Games programmer going by the name of Yare on the forums had this to say:
"The voices and textures are the way they are because we're limited to 40 megs for WiiWare titles. The PC versions of our games are usually 150+ megs, and most modern games range anywhere from 1-10 gigabytes or more. Talk to Nintendo about this one.
Frame rate issues will probably get sorted out eventually, but keep in mind that the Wii is just not a powerful console. An iPhone is much more powerful than a Wii, even."
233w ago - Today ZodTTD has shared a few preview videos of the PSOne emulator PSX4iPhone running on an iPhone 3GS. Also below is an earlier video of the GBA emulator gpSPhone running on the iPhone 3GS.
To quote: For those who have an iPhone 3GS, you're probably aware of how much faster this model runs over all previous Apple handheld devices. This is evident in my YouTube video posted in my previous newsbit of gpSPhone running on the 3GS.
I now have psx4iphone running very speedy on the 3GS. It's at the point where Final Fantasy 7 is fullspeed at very least without sound. The build is rough around the edges, as you can't switch games without restarting the emulator, and only memory card saves are currently working, no save states just yet. Both these issues are being worked on.
So how would you like to run psx4iphone on your 3GS right now, even without a jailbreak? Well you can! I can make a build for a limited number of people.
In order to run this build you will need a tool like DiskAid for PC & Mac to place games & bios, that you must supply yourself, in a publicly writable directory. It's simple drag & drop.
237w ago - Have you played the 2D Mirror's Edge flash game?
If not you are missing one of the best platform games of recent memory. The animation is silky smooth, the level designs are perfectly tuned - you can sprint through them creating fluid runs or you can explore the city's verticality for the numerous hidden satchels.
We feel very strongly that this game is just begging for an iPort. The controls are as simple as left, right, up, down and jump. If SEGA can pull it off with a shonky Sonic port there is no reason why the controls shouldn't excel on the iPhone.
Graphically its right where it needs to be, bold and colourful with superb presentation. We can't think of any reason why this shouldn't get an App Store release, can you?
We sent a tweet to Craig "Law" Wien at EA Mobile, as follows: "Any chance of bringing THIS (MirrorsEdge2D.com) to the iPhone? Please?"
To which came the response: "Yah, you guys would be into that game on the iPhone?"
Only time will tell for sure, but here is to hoping it happens!
237w ago - Recently iTrophies for your iPhone or iPod touch was just upgraded to version 2.0 Apple App Store, with added several new features included.
iTrophies 2.0 is a handy app that syncs your own PlayStation 3 Trophy data to your iPhone and not only allows you to see which trophies you have earned but which ones you still have to get.
One thing pretty unique with iTrophies that seems to set it apart from the crowd is that fact that is actually supports live syncing, so no longer will you have to manually select each trophy that you have earned.
With the help of a set by set guide which is found over on their Web site they will help you do the hard part in a matter of minutes.
Another thing that PS3 iTrophies allows is the ability to look at the live status of everyone on your friends list, yo uwill be able to see if they are online or not, their comments, what they are playing, and even compare overall trophy stats with them.
PS3 iTrophies also contains a break down off all your games, showing you which trophies you have earned and which you still have to get, along with info about how...
