Introducing Hustle Kings for PS3 on PlayStation Network

100°
283w ago - US Producer Aaron Orsak has introduced Hustle Kings for PS3 today which is coming to Sony's PlayStation Network this winter.

To quote: Hustle Kings is without a doubt the most realistic and, frankly, impressive billiards game I've ever played. As an avid pool player myself, from 8-ball leagues to smoky snooker halls in the UK, I've just gotten used to billiard video games always "missing something"... that "something" is hard to quantify.

But I can honestly say that Hustle Kings gets it completely right! I wasn't yet assigned to the project when a couple of my colleagues and I got our hands on it here around the office. I was initially quite skeptical given my history of video billiard disappointments, thinking it was going to be just another pool game, but after hitting a few shots I was sold.

The amount of ball control is simply astounding, giving the player any and every shot option in the book...from masse shots to subtle swerves and tricky English, you can do anything to the cue ball in Hustle Kings that you can do around a real table.

So the realism was there, but how would the game fare for a more casual gamer? Turns out everyone around the office, from the hardcore to the weekend warrior, to people I've rarely seen play games, found something to...

Introducing Unbound Saga for Sony's PlayStation Portable

100°
284w ago - Today [Register or Login to view links]'s Senior Producer Mike Kennedy has introduced Unbound Saga for Sony's PSP console, as follows:

Unbound Saga is an old-school, arcade-style brawler that puts you in the shoes of Rick Ajax, a surly comic book tough guy trapped in a world of endless trouble.

The thing is, he knows he's a comic book character, and after 30 years of dealing with one ridiculous plotline after another, he's had about enough. So you get to take him on an epic adventure to escape the pages of the comic in search of The Maker, the mysterious entity responsible for his daily misadventure.

So why make it a brawler? Well, aside from the logical activity perpetuated by the lead character, we frankly couldn't get enough brawlers growing up in the 8-bit and 16-bit days, and there doesn't seem to be enough of 'em coming out any more these days. We were hooked on games like Streets of Rage, Final Fight, TMNT Arcade, X-men Arcade, Captain American and The Avengers, etc.

They were colorful, visceral, over-the-top, and tons of fun. The gameplay was easily accessible, with simple to understand controls – Punch, Kick, Grab, Throw – that could be strung together to pull off easy-to-execute combinations.

There were no blocks,...

Introducing .deTuned for Sony's PlayStation 3 Console

50°
291w ago - Today Sony Santa Monica Studios Sr. Producer Rusty Buchert introduced .deTuned for Sony's PlayStation 3 console.

To quote: I'm here to talk to you about another experiment from the [Register or Login to view links] that will be coming down the pipeline later this year. This one is called .deTuned and is made by [Register or Login to view links], who has been involved in the demoscene for quite a while now. They have done some interesting pieces, which includes [Register or Login to view links], an FPS that is all done with one 96k file.

.deTuned is a bit of an odd beast that offers an abstract and surreal interactive experience like nothing else. It is not exactly a game or an art piece like Linger in Shadows.

It allows you to create your own visual to accompany your favorite music tracks on the XMB, and using the SIXAXIS™ Wireless Controller, you will be able to manipulate the given scene by interacting with and modifying a man and his world. It even lets you tweak your music as you play with it.

Check out some of the photos below. It's all in your hands!

293w ago - SCEA Senior Producer Mark Rogers introduced SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 for PSP today via PlayStation Blog as follows:

It's been over 2 years since we released SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 2 for the PlayStation Portable. During that time we've been working diligently to improve the SOCOM Fireteam Bravo series and are excited to announce the upcoming release of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP.

Join the ominous world of ex-secret operatives as you lead a covert operation to track and interrogate former KGB agent, Alexander Gozorov who is believed to be withholding information on a forthcoming attack with weapons of mass destruction.

While the SOCOM name has long been synonymous with multiplayer tactical gaming, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 takes it a step further allowing players to tackle missions with teamwork and firepower. Players can also compete online; communicate via voice chat, battling for Medals and a place on SOCOM's online leaderboards.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 is being developed by Slant Six Games. Keep your eyes on the blog to check out a teaser trailer for SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 in the near future.
