Inside the inFAMOUS Music for the PlayStation 3 Console

100°
269w ago - SCEA Music Manager Jonathan Mayer has shared a glimpse of what takes place inside the inFamous music for Sony's PS3 console, as follows:

I've been playing and writing music for most of my life. I started playing the drums at a very young age and, as a drummer, I think I had a natural aversion to 'electronic' music when I was first turned on to it.

Then one day, about ten years ago, a friend played me a record called 'Permutation' by [Register or Login to view links] and suddenly I could see the light (and hear it, for that matter). Years later, I had the opportunity to put together a bunch of music as a style guide for [Register or Login to view links]'s new game, inFAMOUS.

I did my duty as a loyal fan and peppered the style guide with some of Amon's music, not because it would have worked in the game, but because I thought the folks making the game might have the same visceral reaction to his music that I always did. I never expected that it would actually lead to us working together.

Provided below is an interview we conducted with Amon Tobin regarding his involvement in the game. Check it out!

Q: What drew you to this particular project? How'd you get involved?

A. It was an opportunity to try something...

Video: PlayStation Xi - Dare You Step Inside?

50°
270w ago - Today PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star shared a new PlayStation Xi video, as follows:

Xi, the adventure based in PlayStation Home, took another step into the real world this week as a select group of players met with characters face-to-face - in a limousine.

The meetings were 'recruitment interviews' to join [Register or Login to view links], a mysterious corporation whose motives have always been unclear.

But now their aims are becoming clearer. All of the candidates in both New York and Los Angeles were given a pen during their interview.

Each pen contained a USB stick hiding passwords to a restricted area of the Veilcorp Web site. And it looks like Veilcorp has had plenty of reasons to keep their dirty business secret...

To find out more, switch on your PS3, download Home, and look for the Xi graffiti in the main square. The recap video in the Hub will help you catch up with the action.

Meanwhile, check out the video above of some of the candidates in New York. (We're not sure if [Register or Login to view links] were candidates as well or just big fans of Veilcorp.)

Rumor: Inside Source Claims PS3 & PSP Price Cut in Early June

400°
274w ago - According to an internal 'proven' source of French Web site [Register or Login to view links], it's been unofficially confirmed that both the PS3 and PSP will receive price drops in early June.

This would obviously correspond with E3, which is scheduled to run between June 2 and June 4.

To quote: Although the source didn't reveal the new price for the PS3, it did provide the new price point for the handheld: 169 Euros, down from 189.

Of course, even if accurate, this information may only apply to the European/PAL regions, but we find it hard to believe that Sony wouldn't have this pair of price cuts spread worldwide. Additionally, the mystery source confirmed the existence of the much-rumored PSP 2, which should be available for the end of the year.

We've already received many pieces of evidence for a new PSP model; either the PSP-4000 or a PSP 2, and that includes the theory that it will be designed to compete with the iPhone. It sounds plausible, but with nothing concrete to solidify the claims, we still can't call it anything but "rumor and speculation."

And if you don't already know, Sony's business policy has always been the same: they simply don't comment on rumor and speculation.

Video: Go Inside the Street Fighter IV Launch for PS3!

284w ago - Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein shared a video today via PS Blog of the Street Fighter IV launch for Sony's PlayStation 3 console. To quote:

To celebrate the 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) coming of the Street Fighter legacy, Capcom threw a giant launch party a few days ago in downtown Los Angeles. Many of you attended, some were [Register or Login to view links] by the LA fire marshal, but all that made it in had a great time.

When I first arrived, Capcom Community Guy and Street Fighter Legend Seth Killian offered up a tour. I rolled video so you could see what went down inside:

More pics of the event [Register or Login to view links]. Thanks Justin M!

Gushing fanboy time: my personal highlights were getting my phone engraved, meeting Cmdr. Geordi La Forge, and getting my butt handed to me by Destructoid's Nick Chester 3 matches in a row.

Again, it was great meeting those who got in, and I extend my personal apologies for those invitees turned away due to overcapacity.
