Brandon Roy Scores Cover of NBA 10: The Inside for PSP

200°
275w ago - SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has unveiled the cover of NBA 10: The Inside for PSP today, which includes basketball star Brandon Roy.

To quote: Hey all, today we are thrilled to announce that Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Brandon Roy will be the cover athlete for NBA 10: THE INSIDE, which hits stores on October 6th, exclusively for PlayStation Portable. Below is a first-hand look at the brand new cover art.

Roy will be entering his fourth pro season when the NBA schedule kicks off on October 27th. Since being drafted sixth overall by the Blazers in 2006, he's taken the league by storm winning Rookie of the Year (2007), All-Rookie Team (2007), All-NBA Second Team (2009) and two All-Star appearances (2008-2009). I'll put it another way, as of February 16, 2009, Roy has hit 24 shots where he tied or won the game with 35 seconds or less–the guy is clutch!

Which is why we're psyched to have the silky smooth guard as our ambassador for the newest version of our NBA franchise, which has been the #1 rated PSP NBA simulation for 3 years in a row now*.

From the same makers that brought you MLB 09: THE SHOW, NBA 10: THE INSIDE really offers fans two games in one package–a superior simulation experience for the hardcore hoops fans while also giving gamers a...

A Peek Inside a Dynamic / Animated PS3 Theme

500°
276w ago - Today SKFU has shared his findings when peeking inside one of the new Dynamic / Animated PS3 Themes that have recently been introduced in PS3 Firmware 3.0.

To quote: "A quick look at the new animated themes shows that they are not really different to the common themes. I just downloaded the free theme from the Japanese store and decrypted the HDD again to see what is inside the package file. Well, it is:

1. JP9000-NPJQ00006_00-0000000000000000.p3t.edat

You see a normal .p3t file which is the same type of data, the old themes use. It is just encrypted as .edat file which is decrypted and installed on the PS3 on the fly after downloading it.

2. PS3LOGO.DAT

The default picture you see in any game when you press triangle - information about the game.

That's all. Wondering if there will be a homebrew program to develop your own animated themes soon, or even a SONY tool like the one for the old themes?!"

Video: Inside Tekken 6's New Campaign Mode on PlayStation 3

50°
287w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared some details and a video today on Tekken 6's new Campaign Mode, as follows:

Ever since the early 90s, I've been hoping for a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup-esque combination of fighting and beat'em ups ("You got Streets of Rage in my Street Fighter!").

A number of games have tried this formula (including Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and God Hand), but at E3, something caught my eye.

We were showing a number of trailers at the PlayStation booth, when I spied [Register or Login to view links] wielding a chain gun.

Later on, I was able to chat on camera with Tekken 6 game director Katsuhiro Harada. He was happy to share details on this Scenario Campaign Mode's length, character customization, and online play.

Inside the inFAMOUS Music for the PlayStation 3 Console

100°
291w ago - SCEA Music Manager Jonathan Mayer has shared a glimpse of what takes place inside the inFamous music for Sony's PS3 console, as follows:

I've been playing and writing music for most of my life. I started playing the drums at a very young age and, as a drummer, I think I had a natural aversion to 'electronic' music when I was first turned on to it.

Then one day, about ten years ago, a friend played me a record called 'Permutation' by [Register or Login to view links] and suddenly I could see the light (and hear it, for that matter). Years later, I had the opportunity to put together a bunch of music as a style guide for [Register or Login to view links]'s new game, inFAMOUS.

I did my duty as a loyal fan and peppered the style guide with some of Amon's music, not because it would have worked in the game, but because I thought the folks making the game might have the same visceral reaction to his music that I always did. I never expected that it would actually lead to us working together.

Provided below is an interview we conducted with Amon Tobin regarding his involvement in the game. Check it out!

Q: What drew you to this particular project? How'd you get involved?

A. It was an opportunity to try something...

Video: PlayStation Xi - Dare You Step Inside?

50°
292w ago - Today PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star shared a new PlayStation Xi video, as follows:

Xi, the adventure based in PlayStation Home, took another step into the real world this week as a select group of players met with characters face-to-face - in a limousine.

The meetings were 'recruitment interviews' to join [Register or Login to view links], a mysterious corporation whose motives have always been unclear.

But now their aims are becoming clearer. All of the candidates in both New York and Los Angeles were given a pen during their interview.

Each pen contained a USB stick hiding passwords to a restricted area of the Veilcorp Web site. And it looks like Veilcorp has had plenty of reasons to keep their dirty business secret...

To find out more, switch on your PS3, download Home, and look for the Xi graffiti in the main square. The recap video in the Hub will help you catch up with the action.

Meanwhile, check out the video above of some of the candidates in New York. (We're not sure if [Register or Login to view links] were candidates as well or just big fans of Veilcorp.)
