231w ago - Thanks to several Best Buy employees who confirmed the news, a new 80 GB PS3 bundle is set to include MGS4 and Killzone 2 at the standard price of $400.
The new PS3 bundle goes on sale at Best Buy next Sunday.
To quote: Sent in by a Best Buy employee, and confirmed by other BB employees, it's an 80GB PS3 bundled with copies of two of the biggest games on the system: Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2. All that for the asking price of a standard PS3, $400.
It's like getting a Wii with Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy, or a 360 with Gears 2 and Halo 3. But perhaps more importantly, it's also one heck of a saving; perhaps Best Buy need to clear out their stock of 80GB PS3s for oh, I don't know, a new PS3?
234w ago - Today Capcom's John Diamonon has announced news of a new Bionic Commando: Rearmed update which includes PS3 Trophies.
To quote: Capcom USA and GRIN decided to go back to the lab and work on an update for Bionic Commando Rearmed. But wait, it gets deeper.
Not only are we adding trophy support (that's right son), those over-delivering, son-of-a-guns got a little crazy and are offering a bit more:
New "Normal" difficulty setting. In this setting, the following changes are made:
• When you die, you respawn at the last solid ground or checkpoint
• The level Albatross B was cut
• The ability to reel out the cable when hanging or swinging to its full length
• If the player swings into a wall, they will no longer disconnect and be thrown away from the wall. Instead, they will keep connected and reel in
• Unlimited lives
Super Joe Machine Gun bug fix:
• When upgraded, the weapon also becomes more powerful in addition to the larger clip
• Fixed for all difficulty levels.
I hope all of you recognize the important role you play in helping us make better games. Our dialogues on...
247w ago - Today PAIN Associate Producer Jason Coker announced news of the incoming PAIN Smack Pack, which includes both Darts and Fortress Modes. To quote:
We're about to drop the Smack Pack on you (sold separately), which includes the Darts and Fortress game Modes. As I'm sure you know, traditional Darts wouldn't be suitable for PAIN. We wouldn't dare make something as simple as launching a character into an oversized dartboard.
Instead, you have to launch you character toward a giant sticky billboard with multiple bullseyes painted on it, in the process grabbing another character (or bomb) and chucking it at the billboard. Sounds simple enough, eh?
Oh, I forgot to mention the fact that your opponents have distractions to jack you up during your flight to the billboard. It makes it even more satisfying to clear the distractions and pull off a bullseye, so I hope your game is in order.
Fortress is the other half of the Smack Pack, and it pits you against up to three opponents, each of you with a giant fortress on a floating platform in the sky. On offense, your task is to aim at an opponent's fortress, launch and grab an exploding object, and chuck it at their fortress to inflict maximum damage.
Every bit of damage you do costs that player points, and when...
263w ago - Pop quiz: Which is the cheapest current-gen home console? If you said the $250 Nintendo Wii, you'd be wrong – it's actually the $200 Xbox 360 Arcade, which eschews the hard drive, headset and premium cables of its Pro cousin to shed a full $100 off of the regular price.
But though the entry-level 80GB PlayStation 3 usually clocks in at nearly twice that last price – with "no plans" for a March price cut – a new Sony offer will put the PS3 in a very close third-place finish with its rivals. If you're willing and able to sign up for the new Sony PlayStation credit card, you can get a PS3 shipped to your door for exactly $284.
While I would not advocate credit even if the US financial market wasn't currently in death throes due to its mismanagement (I avoid credit cards as a matter of principle) for those who don't feel similarly bound this actually appears to be a pretty good deal.
There's no annual fee, the standard APR is 11% variable, and there don't appear to be any unusually nasty penalties –...
