215w ago - SCEA Associate Producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda shared the following this weekend via PlayStation Blog:
One of the new great features of Patapon 2 is the great masked warrior Hero Patapon.
Hero Patapon is a mythical creature (like a yeti, but cuter and real-er), with magical powers and a heart of gold. His fighting skills are second to none and it's rumored that he beat Chuck Norris in a staring contest (with one eye!).
True this: he is the most powerful Patapon in the WORLD!
So your question is: how do you tap into this awesomeness and channel his amazing-ness into complete Karmen oblivion? Well friends, I have two syllables for you: fe-ver.
That's right, Fever Mode, the magic point in time when your rhythmic prowess sets the Patapons into a frenzy is also the time when Hero Patapons special abilities come to shine. So here is how it will work: lets say you are headed down a jungle, spear in hand chanting Pata-Pata-Pata-Pon (march command) to you heart's delight...and then you see a Kachidonga in the distance...and you strike Pon-Pon-Pata-Pon (attack command).
Under normal conditions, this would set of a hail of spears and arrows from your troops, and if you are in Fever Mode, the hail would blacken...
217w ago - PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star announced today that 'Backstage with Guitar Hero' will be launching in PlayStation Home tomorrow, as follows:
The time has come for all of you virtual rock stars to get your butts into PlayStation Home and show off your sickest riffs and slickest licks.
That's right - on Thursday, March 26th, Activision is launching their first PlayStation Home space to support their hit franchise - Guitar Hero. And you're invited to the launch party!
The event will take place in the "Backstage with Guitar Hero" space where players will be able to rock out on their PLAYSTATION 3 controllers to a lightning-fast finger rock-style interactive mini-game. In this mind-boggling party game of music, memory, and reflexes, players are challenged to follow the lead of a guitarist by matching an ever-increasing color and sound pattern.
With each turn a new note is added to the tune, and when a player misses a note they are knocked out of the game until only one player is left standing. A local leaderboard captures the highest scores in real time so the true champion gets their due props and the losers are...
220w ago - Set for release this fall, the Wii version of EA's universe-creating "Spore" is designed for adventure and a heavy use of motion control.
To quote: Few games have transitioned from the PC to the Wii. There is no "World of Warcraft" Wii, no "Company of Heroes" Wii, not even -- yet -- a "Peggle" Wii. But EA has been trying, first with "MySims" for Nintendo's home system and, coming this fall, "Spore Hero."
EA has shed almost no light on "Spore Hero" since announcing it in January as part of the 2009 line-up of "Spore" spin-offs. MTV Multiplayer can change that today.
Last month in Las Vegas, I met with the general manager for EA's "Spore" and "Sims" studio, Lucy Bradshaw, who talked to me, among other things, about how "Spore" for the Wii is taking shape.
Bradshaw said that this "Spore" for the Wii was built from the ground up. She described a game comprised of a significantly beefed-up version of "Spore"'s creature stage, served with a heavy helping of motion control.
The game brings the PC game's full creature editor and procedural animation system, enabling gamers to assemble their beasts from a Potato-Head's worth of parts. The mouse-driven interface of the editing tools in the PC game turns...
220w ago - Imagine Kratos, the angry, irate ghost of Sparta sitting toe and toe with Mario. What he lacks in cuteness he makes up for with broken limbs. Industry rumblings say many possible millions of God of War fans have not purchased a PlayStation 3, yet.
This would put Kratos in the role of a true system seller, he has been welcomed into over 7 million homes world wide. Sony's official God of War III press event really help put the buzz back on the right path as many fans were disappointed at the VGA awards teaser.
Nick Williams, an industry analyst, postulates that over 33% of God of War III potential buyer's do not own the PS3 console. Speaking to Gamasutra the marketplace guru said this:
The price point for the PS3 remains a real problem for Sony. Sony execs now find themselves in the precarious position of trying to balance consumer price expectations with the high costs of producing each PS3.
That said, the PS2's continued success more than eight years after launch suggests that Sony is thinking long term with the PS3. If Sony can continue to bring down hardware manufacturing costs, it seems likely that it will offer a price cut by the end of Summer 2009.
The launch of God of War III in late 2009/early 2010 will mark a pivotal moment for Sony. But in...
222w ago - At least they didn't call the band Leonard... Lynyrd Skynyrd might not be the world's most intellectual rock band, but at least they can spell their own name. Which is more than we can say for whoever designed the cover for the upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica game.
Rolling Stone caught the grammatical gaffe while checking out the game's cover art, which proudly displays the names of all the hard-rocking artists that grace the game's soundtrack.
While bands like Judas Priest and Samhain enjoyed correct spelling, just off to the left of the "Hero" is the hitherto unknown band "Lynyrd Skynrd," whom we presume is some sort of Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band, minus a Y.
Guitar Hero: Metallica is the second game in the series to be based on the music of one particular group, following last year's Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.
No word yet on whether or not Guitar Hero publisher Activision plans on fixing the spelling error before the game launches on March 29, but we certainly hope they do. Haven't Skynyrd fans suffered enough?
