Guide: How to Run PS3 Games with 4+GB Files from External HDD

1200°
199w ago - Today PSGroove has shared details courtesy of [Register or Login to view links] on how to run PS3 games which contain 4+GB files from an external PlayStation 3 FAT32 HDD.

Those interested can check out the guide below, and be sure to share your results in our PS3 JailBreak Game Compatibility List.

To quote: Due to FAT32 limitations users needed to run these games from internal hard drive only. However, it seems that isn't the only option anymore. Many games utilize a file format known as PSARC (*.psarc).

1) Download PSARC.zip PlayStation Archive Utility (or the PARC GUI v0.1 or the PARC GUI v0.2 update by TeamKidneyBean...

Rumor: PSJailBreak Combatted via New PS3 Models & Encryption

700°
203w ago - This weekend I heard from a good source (my guy in Oz Land) that Sony will be combatting the PSJailBreak with new PlayStation 3 models and PS3 HDD encryption.

This is what he said, to quote: "I heard Sony is holding back new supply of consoles, as they are removing dev and debug modes. This means you cannot get consoles easily fixed in repair centres so no more extended warranties.

THIS MEANS PSJB AND PSGROOVE WILL NO LONGER WORK ON NEW CONSOLES"

He went on to state the following, to quote: "Additionally, it is rumoured, the new 320GB PS3's will have firmware loaded onto the HDD and encrypted in a way that you cannot do a DD copy to a new HDD, so no longer can you load a heap of games to your HDD as you will be locked to the one that was loaded retail."

We have to wait and see now... M$ did the same with their consoles when we jtagged them, so I guess Sony can do the same with an update eh.
