GTA IV Multiplayer patch for PS3 due out today!

50°
337w ago - Rockstar and Sony plans to patch the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV today to improve the multiplayer experience.

Speaking to Eurogamer, a Sony source explained that the patch would help by "reducing the loads on the servers at GameSpy and hopefully the completely random hangs that some users have seen".

PS3 owners who bought GTA IV last week have had to endure problems connecting to the multiplayer service almost from day one.

What's more, some reported random crashes, for which Rockstar suggested that erasing game data and reinstalling as a possible solution.

This week, UK chart monitor Chart-Track reported that 926,000 copies of GTA IV were sold during its first week on sale here - with 413,000 of going to PS3 owners.

Top Five Things to do in GTA IV Between Missions

200°
337w ago - Well, you've just stolen your umpteenth car for Brucie, taken Michelle to the Chicken Shack and banged her like a drum for the tenth time... What now?

Instead of the single player missions, I'm gonna give you a top 5 things to do when you're not performing a single player mission.

Number 5:

Ladies of the night. Whether it's the strippers or the hookers, Rockstar has made sure that Niko's nookie is taken care of. Sure, there's lots of variations on this one, like find all of the different types of hookers, kill the hookers, or run the hookers down. Then go to the strip club and, of course, shoot up the strip club, kill the strippers, run the strippers down, or check out the different lap dances, but it all boils down to finding the ladies.

Number 4:

Got this extremely fun activity from Rothbart. He likes to steal a motorcycle then drive as fast as possible into oncoming traffic and see how far he can jettison Niko. Then he gets up and tries it again. There are obvious variations on this one, such as jettisoning yourself from a fast car, or jettisoning yourself from a heliocopter.

Number 3:

Stunt jumps. Just like number 4, but you try and survive these jumps. There's about fifty, or so, unique stunt jumps to find and clear in Liberty...

Why GTA IV Deserved the Hype and Halo 3 Didn't

338w ago - Fan-boys should start throwing and shouting things now so that they can get that out of the way. Because what you're about to read will probably make you more angry than a Jack Thompson tirade on video game content banning. So brace yourselves, fan-boys, because it's about to get ugly for a certain green-suited, Robocop wannabe and his see-through, advanced AI sidekick.

If any of you are familiar with the Haze Hype articles of last year you'll probably remember a good deal of praise going toward development studio Free Radical for their original and risky project, Haze. The very reason Haze was compared to Halo 3 was not because Bungie had a media fiasco surrounding their green savior for the planet Earth, but for the lack of ingenuity that was going into the project, in light of the hype. This is pretty much the same argument, only describing why the hype was well deserved for Rockstar's project and not for Bungie's.

Already, GTA IV is breaking records with its sales, despite the economy being plagued with the overbearing cloak of a recession, and the controversial anti-hype that surrounded GTA IV before its release. But there was one thing that excelled GTA IV to the record busting platform it sits atop: hype. Without promotional ads nearly everywhere, and in all shapes and forms (not to mention...
