PS3 Motion Controller to be at Game Developers Conference 2010

253w ago - Today SCEA's Kirk Bender of Developer Support and Research Manager David Coombes have confirmed that Sony's PS3 Motion Controller will be shown at the 2010 Game Developers Conference in a presentation on March 11th.

To quote: "The PlayStation 3 Motion Controller will be shown at the Game Developer Conference next month, it has been announced.

Titled 'Introducing the PlayStation 3 Motion Controller', the session description has confirmed the features of the devices, but does not specify what it will explicitly cover.

Recently delayed until the autumn, the controller has yet to be given an official name, release date or launch line up."

The GDC conference, based in San Francisco, will run from March 9 to March 13, 2010.

GDC 2009: Next-Gen XBox Confirmed by Developer

300w ago - Exciting news for gamers - Microsoft is deep in the development process for the successor to the Xbox 360 games console, it's been revealed.

To quote: One of the first credible reports on the topic, Blizzard's Rob Pardo has confirmed that his company has taken part in talks with Microsoft about the next-next-gen console.

That Microsoft will launch another console at sometime in the future isn't exactly rocket science, but this news suggests the company plans to replace its current 4-year-old system soon.

Speaking at a lunch at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Pardo did not provide hardware details - only that Blizzard is "actively in discussions with Microsoft" about the new gaming hardware.

Blizzard is the publisher behind the World of Warcraft games, and Pardo reported that he suggested to Microsoft that the next model should have improved input devices that would allow real-time strategy games (and the like) to be better ported to consoles.

Those interested should check it out quick, in case they are next to remove it. The video comes courtesy of DarthXehanort and the caption reads as follows:

GDC '09: Sony Offers Huge Incentive for PSN Exclusivity

300w ago - Remember that biased and irrational media blowup concerning the PSN bandwidth fee? Yeah, well, who thinks publishers won't want to put their games on the PSN now?

As reported by [Register or Login to view links], Sony will match the development budget of a self-published video game if that title remains exclusive to the PlayStation Network.

The first game to take advantage of the deal is the recently released Burn Zombie Burn!, and Sony says they're "looking for a great many more titles," so pay attention, self-publishers! Chris Eden, Sony development relations manager, says they're ready to put their money where their mouth is:

"It's all very well for us as platform holders to say 'put all your money into PlayStation Network, it's a fantastic idea', but are we prepared to put or money where our mouth is? The answer is yes. We're looking for a number of great games, and in return for exclusivity we'll match your development budget with guaranteed royalties."
