94w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared an EVO 2K update today, with details on both Tekken Hybrid and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue as follows:
I spent the weekend at the EVO Championship Series, a mecca for fighting-game competitors and home to the biggest Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Tekken 6, Mortal Kombat tournaments in the world.
This year, I'm told, EVO attendance spiked sharply to nearly 8,000 attendees -- enough to strain the confines of the biggest ballroom in one of Las Vegas's larger resort hotels.
With EVO's popularity soaring in recent years, it's become common to see legendary figures in fighting game design prowling the demo stations, studying player reactions and answering questions.
At EVO I caught up with Katsuhiro Harada, the outgoing game director for Tekken since its inception on the PSone. I particularly wanted to discuss this November's PS3-exclusive Tekken Hybrid, the upcoming Blu-ray compilation that will include CG film Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D, an enhanced version of the seminal PS2 fighter Tekken Tag Tournament, and an appetizer in the form of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue.
95w ago - Capcom Community Senior Manager Seth Killian has announced today alongside a video that EVO 2011 starts tomorrow, which will also be streaming in PlayStation Home.
To quote: EVO is the World Series of Fighting Games, and it's this weekend, July 29th through the 31st, in Las Vegas.
EVO has been running for over a decade, and has grown from a small gathering of friends into the biggest fighting-game event on the planet, with thousands of competitors and fans attending from dozens of countries (46 countries are represented this year!).
The best of the best come not only to win prizes, but to claim a place in fighting game history, to earn a name, and to test themselves at the highest levels.
For fighting game fans like me, it is so exciting that my body literally starts tensing this far in advance because of what I know is to come. Wonder how little kids feel when they are on their way to Disneyland? For fighting game lovers, this is that feeling.
If you've always wondered why people still talk about arcades, EVO is as close as you'll come to seeing it for yourself. It's this big space, filled with people who are -- at the same time -- your friends and your enemies. You can feel the thrill, excitement, and anxiety of competition...
100w ago - Today Djamil Kemal at Lexis Numerique has shared a video on Amy, an evolved survival horror video game that is hitting PSN this summer.
To quote: If you're into new survival-horror experiences, this post is for you! After recently releasing Red Johnson's Chronicles on PSN, we're excited to be publishing Amy on PSN later in 2011.
Amy is the upcoming game from Paul Cuisset, who may be a familiar name for some of you; In the early 90s Paul created Flashback, a classic game that is credited today as a great source of inspiration by respected game designers.
With Amy, we're now bringing Paul's innovative concepts to PS3 owners with a new development philosophy that bridges the gap between innovative indie PSN games and very ambitious Blu-ray titles.
The story begins on a rainy December day in 2034. Global warming is in full swing, spreading diseases and natural disasters all around the world. You play as Lana, a character who regains consciousness following a comet impact in the small town of Silver City.
Upon awakening, you discover that Silver City has descended into chaos. Violence, fury, rage, wreckage and death: the world you knew has been torn to Hell.
101w ago - Eidos Montreal Community Manager Kyle Stallock has posted up some new video footage of Deus Ex: Human Revolution for PS3 today from this year's E3 convention.
To quote: Demoing a game like Deus Ex: HR isn't easy, but it also isn't boring. As you can see in the video, sometimes our strategies don't go as planned, so we must improvise and adapt.
Adam, the man behind the controller (who coincidentally shares a first name with the game's protagonist Adam Jensen), does just that by showing viewers multiple solutions to potential problems. Would you have played differently than Adam? Let us know below.
If you enjoyed hearing someone from Eidos-Montreal answer user-submitted questions, I recommend heading over to our tumblr page.
There, members of the dev team, including myself, game director Jean-Francois Dugas, and more, read and respond to users. No question is too crazy, or too boring, so flood our inbox!
As always, thank you for your continued support. We all appreciate the comments, criticisms, and general interest, whether it's positive OR negative, we've received. And I'd like to personally say it's truly a pleasure to be the community manager for such...
109w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment America's Product Evaluator Nick Suttner has announced today that Eufloria will be pollinating PSN in June, showcasing the evolution of ambient RTS action!
To quote: Myself and a group of other SCEA folk are busy ramping up our Pub Fund program, helping independent developers to bring their games to PSN without the restraints of a traditional publisher.
There are no specific criteria, outside of selecting games that we think are interesting and that we're dying to play ourselves: Joe Danger, Hoard, Explodemon! and Tales From Space: About a Blob are recent examples that came to fruition with the aid of our program.
We have a RIDICULOUSLY KILLER slate of titles lined up for the future, and we're going to try and do a better job of giving you guys a heads-up about them so that you can share in our excitement, and hopefully help support the developers who are trying to do things a little differently.
And that brings us to Eufloria, which we're thrilled to announce as our next Pub Fund title! Omni Systems are hard at work wrapping up a gorgeous new PS3 iteration of their ambient real-time strategy game, scheduled to hit the PlayStation Store in the latter half of June...
