77w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli shared the first in a series of development videos today showcasing The Last of Us for the PlayStation 3 dubbed Episode 1: Hush below.

To quote: A few weeks ago we revealed the Infected and let select media get some hands-on time against these unpredictable, fungus-infested humans.

The responses were tension-filled and fantastic. We're excited to share more information with you about The Last of Us and the Infected.

We invited [Register or Login to view links] to visit the studio and capture the development process. Along the way we'll be unpacking the many different aspects of the game and its development with a documentarian's approach.

This first video is just a taste of what's upcoming. Extended cuts of these videos will be available via the game disc. We'll have more behind-the-scenes access and content as we march toward June 14th and the launch of The Last of Us.

Under Defeat HD on PS3: One Small Studio's Development Mission

250°
94w ago - CEO Hiroyuki Maruyama has shared details today for Under Defeat HD on PS3, revealing one small studio's development mission below.

To quote: As a small Japanese developer specializing in a niche genre, it is a great pleasure to be able to release one of our games internationally. Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition will be our first PS3 / PlayStation Network title distributed outside of Japan, and our first international package release since WarTech: Senko no Ronde in 2007.

Old-school. Retro. While we do use those terms to describe the titles we develop, fundamentally we hope to make games that are of the same cloth as the classics we played and loved in our youth.

Our studio was built on the concept of creating "game-like games" - drawing from the dynamics and style of past favorites. We have felt that the number of similar games on the market have dwindled, particularly in recent years.

Though we are a small team - and plans do not always go as we had hoped - our intentions to continue producing what we believe are "game-like games" has not changed.

The concept for the original arcade version of Under Defeat could be simplified to developing a realistic wartime shoot 'em up. At the time, the team that would become the core creators of Under Defeat was idle as...

1300°
95w ago - Following up on the recent explanation by marcan42 (scroll down), today PlayStation 3 and Vita hacker wololo has added some clarification of his own below.

To quote from his blog (linked above): PS3 Blown open, Scene chaos, LV0 keys Leaked and Working!

Leaks, chaos and drama have been something common, and on the heels of the PSVita chaos comes the PS3s turn with both good and bad news. This event is so huge that it will completely change the PS3 hacking scene and leave Sony in the wake.

Sony will be turning in their graves today as the PS3 has been basically blown wide open thanks to other events leading up to that. In the wake of this leaves Sony in huge trouble and mostly exhausted due to the amount of progress the hacking scene has made on their devices especially with the recent Psvita PSP EMU kernel exploit.

It’s been absolute chaos in the PS3 scene for the last few days and fair enough to say has been chaotic over the last few years. Ill break down what happened and what this means for the developers and users, keep reading...

Background Information

The similarity in events is extremely blatant but its started...
