Destiny PS4 & PS3 Beta Begins July 17, 2014 - Calendar Revealed

To quote: Happy Bungie Day, PlayStation Nation. We're thrilled to share in our annual celebration of community among gamers with some exciting news about Destiny.

You've imagined yourselves in the boots of a Guardian, prowling the wild frontier in search of treasure and glory. The time for dreaming is almost over. The time to fight is at hand. The Destiny Beta is our chance to fill our brave new world with life and see how it holds up against the stampede.

• Beta Launch: July 17th - First on PlayStation platforms; [Register or Login to view links] on PlayStation Store for Beta access
• Maintenance: July 21st, 22nd
• Beta Rally: July 26th

Below are the details, to quote: Hey there, PlayStation.

It's been an exciting week for us in Los Angeles, preparing the Sony booth for some competitive hands-on action. Before those doors swing wide, we'll begin with a journey through space and time.

Learn about the end of everything, and a new beginning.

For those interested in registering for Destiny's PS4 Alpha Test, during the PlayStation E3 conference it was revealed that Destiny's Beta will begin on 17th July and PlayStation 4 users can get access to an exclusive Alpha Test which runs for 3 days, from June 12 to June 15.

Sony Announces Glacier White PS4 Destiny Bundle, Out in September

29w ago - Today at Sony's E3 2014 Press Conference they announced a Glacier White PS4 Destiny Bundle (alongside some pictures) which is due out on September 9th, 2014 for those who are considering getting a PlayStation 4 console.

34w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman posted up some videos today spotlighting Destiny's weapons and armor on PS4 dubbed Dressed to Kill below.

To quote: Last week, I shared my first PS4 hands-on experiences with Destiny, Bungie's ambitious social shooter.

In today's new video, weapons, armor, and loot are squarely in the crosshairs as lead designer Lars Bakken and community manager David Dague walk us through [Register or Login to view links]'s plans for galactic domination.





Destiny's arsenal is vast and varied: fire-spewing shotguns and head-melting fusion rifles coexist beside traditional pistols and rifles. Weapons span three broad categories: Primary (autorifles and hand cannons), Special (shotguns and sniper rifles), and Heavy (rockets and belt-fed machineguns).

There's plenty of variety within each category, too. The autorifle sub-category includes burst-fire pulse rifles, single-shot carbines, and an array of full-auto assault rifles that prove murderously effective at close range.

Despite the sprawling arsenal, Bungie's designers are taking pains...
 

Destiny on PS4: First PlayStation 4 Hands-on Details Revealed

35w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Sid Shuman went hands-on today with Destiny on PS4, revealing the first PlayStation 4 details below.

To quote: Having spend several hours with a pre-release version of Destiny on PS4, my sense is that Bungie's vision is no less than a complete rethink of how multiplayer shooters work.

Destiny is a deconstruction and reconstruction of a genre that has languished in sterile matchmaking lobbies for far too long.

If you don't have a particular agenda, Patrol is a good place to start. The Patrol structure is deliberately relaxed and freewheeling, with locations covering a large swath of exterior and interior spaces.

You can hunt for beacons to trigger side missions, or just blast enemies, collect loot, and explore at your own pace. Patrol missions seem to vary considerably, tasking you with everything from collecting uranium to interrupting mining operations and assassinating enemy leaders.

From time to time you'll cross paths with other Patrol players, sometimes in the form of dynamic "social events" that pit you against a bigger challenge.

It's always optional: Tag along with the new guy, or hop...
