170w ago - Previously we reported that the PS JailBreak Backup Manager was incoming with some of the rumored features, and today the official PS JailBreak site (linked above) has been updated stating the PS3 USB modchips are shipping and offering some update details.
To quote: "Firstly we would like to apologize for the shipping delay. Our product is now officially shipping, and we have eliminated delay for future orders. All future orders will be shipped within 24 hours of payment.
As this is a big project we needed to make sure that everything would be perfect for both the present and the future. Let us tell you the wait is well worth it as we have made our product even better then we thought possible.
We have several new things to announce. Our Backup Manager v1.1 will be released on or before the 15th of September with a very valuable feature as well as increased reliability and expandability. We have received many emails asking about updates, we have a solution in the works (unlike all copy cat clone makers).
Our solution will be released within 7 days as well and will only work with original...
171w ago - Earlier today we reported on the PSJailBreaker clone, with another surfacing now dubbed the PS3Break PS3 modchip alongside a video, and the PS3Key team have posted a few internal pictures of their upcoming PlayStation 3 modchip as well.
In what appears to be a battle of the clones, the x3JailBreak clone team have stated the PS3Break clone is fake, to quote:
"Today, we have seen online on many websites are talking about ps3break.com. This team is sending our fake email and saying it is our new x3 brand. This is not true and we are not associated to ps3break.com at all. Any orders that come from this website, we will not support it!"
According to PSGroove, PS3Key has updated their Facebook with internal pics (below) and a recommended retail price of $49 USD.
The official PS3Break site (linked above) states the following on their USB device:
171w ago - As news of defeat rolled in on the Australian Court decision earlier today, Kotaku (linked above) now reports that Sony America is taking PS JailBreak US reseller ShopPSJailBreak.com to court.
SCEA has filed suit in California against the online retailer, accusing them of charges including copyright violation.
This doesn't come as a huge surprise, as legal experts have recently warned these are just the first of many lawsuits expected.
To quote: "While not specifically mentioned in the court documents, it's believed the accused, Zoomba LDC - trading at the address SHOPPSJAILBREAK.com - has been attempting to sell the new PS3 Jailbreak modchip, which allows users to circumvent the PlayStation 3's copy protection and play games retail games installed on the console's hard drive.
Shoppsjailbreak is listed as one of two 'official' distributors for the PS Jailbreak on the device's website.
The suit was filed on Tuesday in the California Northern District Court, and accuses Zoomba of copyright infringement, violations...
171w ago - The day has come and it seems the injunction against PS Jailbreak has not been lifted, but continued until further notice, and that the distributor, China Sun Trading Limited must turn over all stock intended for suppliers in Australia.
Justice Dodds-Streeton has ordered that PS Jailbreak may not be imported, distributed to another person, offered to the public, provided for another person, or dealt in despite a free version of the PS3 hack already being made public.
Furthermore, in more shocking news, that the defendant's are ordered to contact the supplier, identified as China Sun Trading Limited of China, with the account number of 817-374473-838 at the HSBC Hong Kong bank branch and inform that any goods ordered be sent to Peter Chalk, and not the defendants.
Finally, it has been ordered that any more PS Jailbreak devices that are acquired by the defendants be handed over forthwith.
This, curiously does not mention other devices, like the Teensy or other devices which have a dual purpose use - so they could still be programmed and sold, as...
171w ago - A few days back we saw the x3JailBreak PS JailBreak clone in action, and today the PS3 modchip's official site (linked above) is updated stating that shipping will begin tomorrow and there will be an online verification for updates.
They've listed a number of new features, including account based updates (after verification, so clones don't get access to updates),
future expansion promise.
Realizing the existence of much cheaper homebrew hardware options, they're saying their hardwre is competitively priced to those (teensy++ etc).
Here's their update with the list of features, to quote:
• X3JailBreak will start shipping the 100 samples, starting 2moro(today ;p) (sep 3rd to sep 6th).
• Future updates will need a per user-copy basis (to make clones fail to get the updates ;p, which might get circumvented by open source hack methods anyway)
• X3jailbreak.com will be shipping our samples out to 100 selected requests starting Sept 3rd-Sept 6th and x3jailbreak are now taking pre-orders which will start shipping by the end of next week (Sept 10th-13th). Feel free to submit your pre-orders today.
• Our goal at x3jailbreak was to provide you as customers...
