Using Saber's technology and development platform, we strive to create digital games that look like retail products. With our first release, God Mode, we wanted to create a lighthearted throwback experience, which focuses on arcade-style action over story. We came up with a classic premise - fighting to get out of Hell - then wrapped it in a third-person shooter with 3D graphics on par with full-price titles.
Finally, we added a slew weapons: plasma launchers, rail guns and what we affectionately call the "buzzsaw," in order to wipe out waves and waves of demonic hordes.
We decided that God Mode should be less about deep narrative and more about action. This approach gave us the ability to really go crazy and build a unique world full of plenty of characters to shoot, blow up, impale and maim.
After making this decision early on in the design process, the designers...
4w ago - Sony Associate Producer Victor Harris announced today that Jak and Daxter Collection goes portable on PS Vita this June.
Below are the details, as follows: In February 2012, Naughty Dog's beloved Jak and Daxter franchise got a faithful HD remake on PS3 in the form of Jak and Daxter Collection, satiating series fans and introducing newcomers to the duo.
This June, we're expanding the collection to the portable audience. Jak and Daxter Collection (comprised of three of Jak and Daxter's legendary adventures - Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, and Jak 3) is coming to PS Vita for just $29.99.
The power of PS Vita means Jak and Daxter Collection will feature authentically reproduced graphics from the original games. Longtime fans will instantly feel at home, and new players will experience the world of Jak and Daxter for the first time, along with new touch-based applications of certain mini games throughout the collection.
Jak and Daxter Collection on PS Vita has full Trophy support, but fear not Trophy hunters - the list isn't shared with the PS3 version, so go for the Platinum!
We've been hard at work on this addition to the Jak and Daxter lineage, and we can't wait to hear your hover board triumph stories as well as your trials and tribulations...
4w ago - CCP Games Praetorian Creative Director Atli Mar Sveinsson announced today that Dust 514: Uprising arrives on May 6th, and has detailed the skill system upgrade below as follows:
With the help of our players, we at CCP have learned a great deal throughout last year of DUST 514's beta period, especially with regard to the system at the core of your character's advancement and progression: the skill system.
Most importantly, we've gained an understanding of how you are using the items to advance through the game. This is all thanks to the terrific amount of player feedback we've received during the beta period.
As we started work on re-aligning the progression tree for the new Uprising build of DUST 514, set for release on May 6th, we realized that trying to map the new skills, bonuses and requirements to your existing items was not only complicated on the technical side, but also likely unfair to you.
You may have committed to a certain play style, and with an overhauled layout and collection of skills, you may find yourself regretting some of your prior choices. We have thus decided that it is far better to re-spec not only the skills but items as well.
In short, you will get your skill points (SP) back and the ISK and AUR (in-game currencies) value of any...
Also thrown into the mix are three special little mini-games - Gravediggers, Duke Wars!! and Nostril Shot - alongside a wealth of other extras. See our Blog post from earlier today for more.
On PS Vita, prepare to sacrifice some time for the EU debut of the Soul Sacrifice demo. The beefy trial offers you the chance to experience the first chapter of the game, as well as take on additional quests either...
