Video: CastleStorm Coming to PS3 & PS Vita on November 5, 2013

100°
38w ago - Zen Studios Community Manager Bobby Loertscher announced today alongside a video trailer that CastleStorm is coming to both PS3 and PS Vita platforms on November 5, 2013.

To quote: Welcome to the world of CastleStorm, a super genre mashup of 2D physics destruction mixed with tower defense brawling!

The idea for CastleStorm came from fond childhood memories of building LEGO castles and then (of course) destroying them. If you want to know more about the inspiration behind the game, and meet the team who created it, watch the developer diary.

We know many of you have been waiting for CastleStorm to arrive on PlayStation, so today we're happy to announce that CastleStorm is coming on November 5th for $9.99, with cross buy support. Pick up the game on PS3 and get it on PS Vita at no charge. For those of you who haven't heard about the game, here's the scoop...

It's Knights vs. Vikings in CastleStorm, where medieval warfare meets 2D, physics-based destruction. Controlling the battle in real time, players will harness the power of medieval artillery, manage a fearsome ground attack, and cast powerful spells.

CastleStorm features a story-driven solo campaign, a custom castle editor, online...

VHBL for PS Vita 2.61, Uses Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban

500°
39w ago - Following up on the previous updates, today PSP developer 173210 has released VHBL for PlayStation Vita 2.61 Firmware users, which uses an exploit in the Japanese title Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban.

To quote: As I type this, I believe the exploited game for this release, Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban, is still available on the JP PSN store. The Game is fairly expensive and probably didn’t attract so much attention. If you really want to run emulators on your Vita, it might still be possible for you to get that game.

VHBL is a homebrew loader running inside the PSP emulator on the Playstation Vita. It lets you run PSP homebrews, including several emulators (SNES, NES, GBA, etc...), but will not let you run PSP isos, let alone pirate PS vita games.

Many thanks go to developer 173210 for his work on his exploit,...

How Unexpected Life Events Inspired Road Not Taken on PS Vita / PS4

50°
39w ago - Spry Fox Chief Creative Officer Daniel Cook shared details today on how unexpected life events inspired Road Not Taken on PS Vita and PS4.

To quote: There is a repeated theme in our upcoming game, Road Not Taken, which we announced here back in August. The characters in our little northern town have all lived their lives according to the same plan: first you go to school, then you get a job, then you fall in love and finally you start a family.

But life doesn't always work out that way.

I grew up expecting to live a very traditional Norman Rockwell-style life. We had a little house on a lovely winding road in rural Maine. I did well in school; checked all the official checkboxes. Then upon entering the real world, things fell apart.

On the job front, I've been through multiple careers. My "safe" job at a large stable employer - the sort of job many people dream about - well, that was an incredibly bad fit for me.

I've joined sketchy start-ups that failed. And some that succeeded. I've been fired for idly drawing pictures of planes inserted into bums. I've been hired at double the salary because (as I learned later) I wore the right type of hat to the interview.

I live in a tiny condo in a big city, not a house in the suburbs. There...

39w ago - Rovio Entertainment Producer Kalle Makinen announced that Angry Birds Trilogy arrives on PS Vita this week with details below.

To quote: Squawk! This not-so-angry bird is Kalle Makinen, a producer from Rovio Entertainment, and I'm here to write a few lines about our latest release in the Angry Birds world.

Angry Birds Trilogy for PS Vita will be released on PlayStation Store on 16th October in Europe, priced €39.99/£34.99. When Angry Birds was released, it became an international phenomenon after just a few months on sale and the number one paid application of all time.

Video: Valhalla Knights 3 is Out Tomorrow on PlayStation Vita

50°
39w ago - XSeed Games Localization Lead Ryan Graff posted up a new PS Vita video today announcing that Valhalla Knights 3 is due out tomorrow on PlayStation Vita.

To quote: We're so thrilled that Valhalla Knights 3, our massive JRPG set in a sprawling prison, launches tomorrow for PS Vita. It's been a long, challenging, and rewarding process for the team.

The first thing you learn in this industry is how hard everyone works. Whether the project is a hundred-million-dollar blockbuster, or a smaller, niche title, dozens of people across many different teams spend months - if not years - of their lives carrying out a thousand different tasks. Some of those tasks are wildly creative, others bureaucratic and mundane, but it takes all of them together to deliver a game into players' hands.

On Valhalla Knights 3, I was a latecomer. I joined up in early September, when most of the hardest work had already been done. Most of my contributions have been on the bureaucratic side this time around, working with other XSEED members, the game's developers, and our friends at PlayStation to get everything ready for launch.

(To put my work on this project in RPG terms, think of the design phase as exploration, the programming phase as combat, and my work as the part where you open up the menu...
