Five PS3 Games to Watch For at E3 2008

700°
325w ago - The annual Electronic Entertainment Expo is just around the corner, and the gaming industry as well as the fans are excited to find out what major announcements software and hardware developers will make this year.

There will undoubtedly be some big new titles announced, as well as some nuggests of information about games we already know are in the works. Here are the five PS3 games that we are most excited about, as well as some questions that we hope developers can answer on the show floor in Los Angeles two weeks from now.

1. Fallout 3

This hybrid RPG/first-person shooter has players exploring the familiar post-apocalyptic universe of Fallout. Set in a creepy "what if" version of 1950s America, the series has garnered praise for its complex plot lines, incredible environments and interactions with NPCs. Fallout 3 will bring the experience into the next gen, with an epic, open world to explore, a new action-oriented battle system, and tons of customizable weapons and skills.

The designers have stated that the scale of the game will be only slightly smaller than that of Oblivion, which gamers know was one of the most massive environments ever seen in a video game. The title has been in development at Bethesda for more than two years, and promises to be one of the biggest...

Four Mysteriously Mysterious Games!

100°
328w ago - What happens to those games where they show a short video at E3 that gets everyone excited and then nothing is heard from them again?

Like Duke Nukem and Prey, they've probably had to start over on a different set of technology as the original technology which at the time was mind-blowing no longer cuts it in today's age of High Definition, High Dynamic Range Lighting and more ragdoll physics than you can shake a Gravity Gun at!

4. Alan Wake
This little title was first shown off way back in 2005 at E3. Originally planned for PC, Xbox360 and Playstation 3 until Microsoft secured publishing rights to the title and made it a PC/360 exclusive. The title is from the same brains behind the Max Payne series.

You are Alan Wake a writer who is suffering from insomnia after losing his wife, and I don't mean she died, she vanished. Seriously! He travels to a sleep clinic which is located in Bright Falls, Washington. His insomnia clears. He starts to use his dreams in his books but they become much more. Spooky stuff, Eh?

How It Looks Today
Time has taken it's toll on this beauty. While the lighting and atmosphere looks amazing, the environment looks a little sterile and fails when compared to the likes of Grand Theft Auto 4. The forests look amazing but the same can't...

SCEE chief: PS3 has a better line-up than 360 in 2008

50°
332w ago - Speaking to us following his presentation to media at PlayStation Day in London last night, SCEE chief David Reeves said that he didn't believe the Xbox 360 was a sinking ship but revealed that Sony had a "really good Christmas coming up".

While Reeve's comments won't surprise anyone, it is interesting to compare the two platforms' upcoming headline exclusives. Xbox 360 owners can expect Ninja Gaiden 2, Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 exclusively this year. PS3 owners will be enjoying Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet.

When asked if he thought the Xbox 360 was a sinking ship, Reeves replied: "No I don't think it's a sinking ship. I think they have contributed amazingly to the growth of the industry. And I think we have done exactly the same. We don't criticise the competition because we are all in this industry and the only way you can do it is to actually bring more consumers in. So I'm not going to criticise them.

All I'm saying is that I think that when we look ahead I think we honestly have a better line-up on PS3 than they probably do on Xbox. They've had two or three Christmases now, I can't remember how many, you know, but I think we've got a really good one coming up. Not just Christmas but in the summer as well."
