Sony to Launch Online Content Management Service in Japan

50°
328w ago - Sony of Japan has revealed a new service called Life-X which enables users to manage their own private digital content such as photos and videos though a Web browser. The service is set to start in October 2008.

"Toward our goal to make 90% of Sony's products support network function, the service will help increase the added-value and convenience of Sony's products," said Nobuki Kurita, executive deputy president of Sony Marketing.

To quote: The service is slated to start in mid October 2008. Ahead of that, the company will disclose the beta version and allow 500 pre-registered users selected in a drawing to try it from Sept 25, 2008, the company said.

As the aims of introducing Life-X, Sony Marketing cited the following reasons: (1) to enable users to manage their private content on the Internet and (2) to allow them enjoy sharing the content they are managing.

Life-X can manage photos, videos, blogs, text memos and web clip content. Each user is allowed to manage up to 500 Mbytes of photos. It can also manage content on other Web services than Life-X. Flickr, YouTube, Twitter and some other Web services run by other companies will be linked to Life-X when it is started.

Life-X allows users to share their content with other users as well. For example, "By...

PAIN Patch Adds Trophies and Game Content, if you Pay for it!

50°
328w ago - The long-awaited PAIN trophy patch is now available to download. Simply load up the game and you will be prompted to download the 325MB patch. Don't forget, PAIN's trophies have been retooled, to make them a bit easier than originally intended. The patch also adds a bunch of content to the game -- but only if you pay for it.

Three new characters are available to purchase, along with the new "Abusement Park" (though none of these are available on any region's PSN Store as of yet). There are also new game modes which, we assume, come with the Amusement Park expansion.

There is one free addition to the feature roster, however. Each week a new mini-level will be made available. Each of these "PAINlabs" will be an experimental concept that Idol Minds are playing with and are releasing for you, the players, to test out.

An interesting idea -- and best of all? It's free. Though, having said that, we doubt anyone would pay any money for these, judging from the first one.

Rumor: Disney to offer official LittleBigPlanet Downloadable Content

50°
329w ago - Thuway, a member of NeoGAF, claims that he has learned at PAX that LittleBigPlanet will have Official Disney downloadable content.

In addition to this revelation, Infamous is targeted for a May 2009 release.

To quote: (BTW- Insomniac, he is seriously one of the most genuine PR guys I've ever met. He is truly a class act.)

Secondly, while the majority of people at the event just play the previews, I like to take time out and actually talk to the developers and get insight into gaming production. I found out some amazing bomb shells, most of which I have my mouth zipped on, but here are two things that won't get me in trouble I hope.

1. LBP will have official Disney DLC.
2. Infamous is targeted for May 2009.

Finally, major props to the editors at 1up, and Bombcast. The Gameworks after party was pretty rad. The guys did a great job of showing that they were gamers, just like you or I, and had a great time treating readers / listeners like peers and colleagues.

I talked to Shane in particular, for God knows how long, oh I know he's reading this and knows who I am. It was like a conversation out of an episode of the 1up Show.
