PSN Version of Warhawk No Longer Locked to Purchased Account

400°
291w ago - Just logged in today with one of my alt accounts and it is no longer locked to the account that originally purchased it.

This ticked me off so much when I originally bought it from the PlayStation Store that I never bought a PSN version of any game due to not wanting to get burnt again by Sony.

Why would I buy a game if my whole family can't play it on there own accounts?

I'm sure the original account must be present on the console your playing on but I can't confirm this because my wife is playing on her account at the moment. lol

Well thumbs up to Sony for finally getting rid of this stupid restriction.

Regards,
Krack3n

Publishers Unhappy with Policy Shift & PSN Download Charges

350°
291w ago - According to MTV Multiplayer (linked above), Sony's previously un-reported new "PlayStation Network Bandwidth Fee" is forcing publishers to think twice about what content they offer to PS3 gamers for download.

To quote: Until October 1 2008, video game publishers who wanted to offer downloadable content on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 didn't have to worry about getting a bill from Microsoft and Sony.

The million-plus downloads that a popular demo or map pack might receive could delight gamers, but rack up some expensive bandwidth costs. No problem: the publishers, who already pay a licensing fee to get their games on the two big platforms, could count on the platform holders – Microsoft and Sony – to pay the cost of piping that digital content to gamers.

That situation changed with the PS3 on October 1 of last year, when Sony implemented a 16 cents per Gigabyte fee to publishers for paid and free downloadable content, according to publishing sources familiar with Sony's policy.

Game publishers are not happy about it.

MTV Multiplayer has verified that a letter sent to publishers last fall detailed the policy. It applies a 16-cent charge to every Gigabyte of content downloaded from the PS3's PSN online store. For free content, like demos, those charges...

PixelJunk Eden Encore Details Unveiled, Coming to PSN in April

50°
292w ago - Q-Games Ltd. President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert shared details of the PixelJunk Eden Encore update coming in April today via PS Blog:

Eden Encore will be coming out very soon in April. Get ready for zero gravity, mirror worlds, all new music from Baiyon, and we've added something extra special at the end which is a Big Secret(tm) and is a present to all the fans.

On top of all this, we're flying along with the next new PixelJunk title (we're calling it #4 for now) and even experimenting with future PixelJunk ideas too.

But things just keep getting more exciting because PixelJunk Eden has been nominated in not just one, but three (!!!) categories at the upcoming [Register or Login to view links]'s award show in San Francisco, CA. We are also nominated for the [Register or Login to view links] too, which are held during the same week.

Additionally, so [Register or Login to view links] is going to be pretty crazy and even busier than normal, and I am looking forward to it a lot!

Oh, and before I forget, on Friday, March 27 at GDC, [Register or Login to view links] will be doing a talk about Eden and the use of CMYK in his graphic design work....

Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition Demo on PSN

250°
292w ago - Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition Senior Development Director David Seeholzer announced that the Ultimate Edition Demo hit PSN today.

To quote: I'm excited to let you know that our single player demo for the Ultimate Edition is available over at the PlayStation Store right now! So go start your downloads...go ahead, I'll still be here when you get back ;-)

The demo contains 2 campaign missions and a tutorial that will get you accustomed to playing RA3 on your PS3. The first campaign mission comes from the Soviet campaign; mission "Krasna 45," the second mission of the Soviet campaign, which we recommend you play first.

You are sent in to reclaim a derelict soviet base in order to intercept an Empire of the Rising Sun force en route to Moscow.

The other mission is "Heidelberg,"the third mission in the Allied campaign, which we recommend you play second overall. In Heidelberg, the Soviets have been pushed back to their headquarters and players will need to turn the tide of the battle by sneaking into their base, forcing them all the way back to Siberia. Both these missions feature co-op gameplay with an A.I. co-commander who will support you as well as follow your orders.

As I mentioned...

PAIN PS3 Smack Pack Hits PSN, Includes Darts & Fortress Modes

50°
292w ago - Today PAIN Associate Producer Jason Coker announced news of the incoming PAIN Smack Pack, which includes both Darts and Fortress Modes. To quote:

We're about to drop the Smack Pack on you (sold separately), which includes the Darts and Fortress game Modes. As I'm sure you know, traditional Darts wouldn't be suitable for PAIN. We wouldn't dare make something as simple as launching a character into an oversized dartboard.

Instead, you have to launch you character toward a giant sticky billboard with multiple bullseyes painted on it, in the process grabbing another character (or bomb) and chucking it at the billboard. Sounds simple enough, eh?

Oh, I forgot to mention the fact that your opponents have distractions to jack you up during your flight to the billboard. It makes it even more satisfying to clear the distractions and pull off a bullseye, so I hope your game is in order.

Fortress is the other half of the Smack Pack, and it pits you against up to three opponents, each of you with a giant fortress on a floating platform in the sky. On offense, your task is to aim at an opponent's fortress, launch and grab an exploding object, and chuck it at their fortress to inflict maximum damage.

Every bit of damage you do costs that player points, and when...
