First Hacked Virtual Console Game released for Wii!

100°
328w ago - The first hacked Virtual Console game has been released in the form of:

Donkey.Kong.Country.2.Diddys.Kong.Quest.VC.PAL.Wii-BlaZe

Unfortunately, since there are no public WAD packing tools, this is useless for the general public and will likely only lead to Nintendo patching security holes that may otherwise be useful for legitimate homebrew.

To quote from the NFO File:

BlaZe brings you the first Virtual Console release.

These are the raw, unencrypted files.

To install this title, pack it into a WAD using your favourite wad packer (for the moment, there are no public ones)

And install them using an elf installer, or a modified ISO that installs the WAD.

have fun.

CWCheat v0.2.2 Rev. B released for PSP!

50°
328w ago - Today weltall mailed in to tell us CWCheat v0.2.2 Rev. B is now out for the PSP! Per his mail: The main things featured by this update includes the possibility to define (through configuration file for now) a button to directly open the text reader and an important bug fix of remapsp which didn't report correct values on read/peek buffernegative calls and so applications/games using them didn't work correctly.

This fix allowed remaPSP to be finally completely working in POPS. Other than this the classic series of bugfixes (including one which didn't allow to use the text reader till next boot if you tried to open a missing file) and the various size optimizations.

ArkTool with Source Code and GUI v5.2 for PS3 released!

100°
329w ago - Today xorloser let us know he has updated his tool (with PS3 support!) which can edit ARK/HDR files found in games including Guitar Hero 1, Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 80s, Rockband, and Karaoke Revolution... Guitar Hero 3 uses a different format, so it is currently not supported.

Both the tool and source code will work with those titles for any system including PS3, PS2, X-Box 360, and X-Box. Note: In order to use this via PS3, you must have a Debug PS3 for the time being as there is no public way to run PS3 back-ups via retail consoles.

Download: ArkTool with Source Code and GUI v5.2 for PS3

You can now replace a short song with a longer song (ie replace a small file with a bigger file). Previously, no tools existed which allowed this kind of editing, and you could only make custom songs by replacing the existing songs with new songs that are the same size or smaller.

This meant that you were limited to custom songs that would fit size-wise into the existing songs in the game. By using this sourcecode or tool this is no longer a problem.

Changelog v5.2:

* fixes an error that occured when you replace an existing encrypted file with a larger file and then save it.

* removed...
