Q: What are the differences between PS3 & PS4? 60 FPS on both? via [Register or Login to view links]

A: We're happy to say the game runs at 60 FPS on both consoles, but you'll notice a visual boost for the game on PS4. The PS4 game also has a second screen experience where you can access the game map to find where enemy commanders are lurking, as well as where secrets are located.

Q: How long will the game be roughly, time wise? via [Register or Login to view links]

Sony Announces Transistor Out Tuesday, Recursion Mode Revealed

14w ago - Supergiant Games Creative Director Greg Kasavin announced today via Sony's blog that Transistor for PS4 is out Tuesday alongside Recursion Mode details below.

To quote: Transistor is less than a week away! Things are eerily calm for us at [Register or Login to view links] as we await the moment when our new game becomes available worldwide, at which point we'll find out at long last what everybody really thinks!

It's been immensely gratifying to have worked on something that so many folks are excited about. Though, knowing full well just how little of the game we've shown, I'm eager to see the response to all the many aspects of the game we've purposely kept secret.

I'd like to talk about one of those aspects here, but first! Let me tell you why we've opted to keep so quiet through most of Transistor's development.

"The less you know about Transistor, the more likely it is to surprise you."

We could have shown more. Since you're reading this on PlayStation.Blog, I'd bet you're pretty up to date on what's happening in games in general. You know the typical PR cycle for a big game involves tons of trailers, previews, press releases, and so on, and maybe eventually a round or two of hands-on impressions before the game is finally released....

Video: The Randomized Fun of Nuclear Throne on PS4, PS3, PS Vita

50°
14w ago - Vlambeer's Rami Ismail made available a video today spotlighting the Randomized Fun of Nuclear Throne on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

To quote: We've been working on Nuclear Throne for a long time. In the past few months, we've been working on the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita versions. It's still a few months out before we're ready to launch, but we're really excited about how things are coming along.

We noticed something interesting about the development process though, something we hadn't quite expected... Nuclear Throne is still a fun game to make.

That sounds like a bit of a ridiculous statement, but that's actually quite a rare occurrence. Game development is a passion occupation, something you do because you love it - but it isn't always fun.

We're almost a year into development, and we're in what is commonly accepted as the rough part of a development cycle: the production phase. It's the period of time in which the fun of coming up with new ideas has withered in favor of making things day in, day out, and the excitement of being almost done is still far-off in the distance.

Nuclear Throne is a top-down action game with procedurally generated levels. It's Hotline Miami meets Binding of Isaac. It's fast, difficult, and different every single time. It's pulp sci-fi made...

Metanet Co-Founder Outlines Graphics ++ in N++ on PlayStation 4

14w ago - Metanet Co-Founder Mare Sheppard outlined graphics ++ in N++ on PlayStation 4 today with details below, as follows:

Hello again! We're back with another blog post; this time we thought we'd talk about one of the new things we're most happy with in N++: the graphics.

One of the main inspirations for the look of N++ was print-based graphic design: bold, smooth blocks of color with crisp, sharp edges.

We wanted something that looked and felt different from other games - something simple but refined. In order to make this vision a reality, we needed two things: a style, and the technology necessary to support it.

We at [Register or Login to view links] have always loved graphic design, especially in print. In fact, we have a rather large library of design books we frequently pore over.

It has always been a dream of ours to work with one of our favorite designers, and - thanks in part to Sony's support via the Pub Fund program - we were able to finally realize this dream with N++, and team up with graphic designer MASA. We became aware of MASA through a book called 'Latino', released in the early 2000s by our favorite publisher, [Register or Login to view links].

So, over the course of the summer of 2013, we worked...
