26w ago - Co-creator Richard Hogg made available a video from E3 2013 today unveiling Hohokum for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita platforms below.
To quote: Hello there! It has been about a month since we announced that Hohokum will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita next year.
At the time I mentioned that we would have some gameplay footage coming soon... and here it is! It features lots of new gameplay footage as well as a close look at some of the characters from the game.
These bits were fun to make as they bring together lots of characters who never actually meet in the game. They seem to be getting on ok though, particularly Brollygirl and the oil-can guy. Gonna have to watch those two.
If you missed our previous announcement, Hohokum is a colorful, charming and whimsical game made by myself, Richard Hogg (I am an artist and illustrator) and Honeyslug, a London based game studio. It was an IGF and IndieCade finalist in 2011.
Hohokum will be playable at E3 in a few different locations including the PlayStation booth and the marvelous IndieCade booth. Look forward to seeing a bit more about Hohokum coming...
26w ago - Compulsion Games developer Guillaume Provost shared a video today spotlighting Contrast on PS4 / PlayStation 4 dubbed Is There Truth In the Shadows below.
To quote: I can attest that some of what you're about to read is actually true, but how can a developer who has spent so much time hiding in the shadows be trusted to write a traditional blog post?
Indeed. He can't. But I digress. You want to know more about Contrast, and I want to shed light on a few topics of my own. Did you know that Contrast, in its initial concept, was set in a cyberpunk virtual world?
We thought that related well with the Film Noir and Burlesque eras, too. Have you heard tell of the international slumber party work week before Compulsion found an office? When we started working on the game, the team was spread out across four continents!
Being an indie game developer is no easy ride, but all those tuna-salad days have helped fuel something amazing - as we all clung to that early magical love affair with an idea so fascinating that it just HAD to become something special.
You see, at Compulsion, we have the benefit of a small but capable team. I'd call them talented, but they let the smallest compliments go to their heads. Have I told you about the overt and subtle themes found...
26w ago - Sony Producer Nicolas Doucet posted up a video today introducing The PlayRoom on PS4, and only for PlayStation 4 below!
To quote: Hi everybody! We're excited to unlock the doors to The PlayRoom, a place for fun and innovative PlayStation 4 Camera and DualShock 4 controller experiments!
As we recently announced, the DualShock 4 controller is packed with lots of new features (such as Light Bar, Touch Pad, Motion Sensor, Speaker, improved Dual Motors...). So what happens when we combine these with the PlayStation 4 Camera? Well, let us show you with this new video!
Let's start with the AR Menu. The first thing you will notice is how the Light Bar is tracked by the PlayStation 4 Camera. This allows us to make cool augmentations like these holographic panels, which come out of the controller and appear around you on the screen.
Using the Touch Pad, you can scroll through them and click to make selections. It's easy to use and very responsive, thanks to the high resolution of the Touch Pad.
Another cool finding is one we nicknamed "the sci-fi genie". By rubbing the Touch Pad like a magic lamp, you can summon Asobi, an interactive flying robot who comes out to play in your living room....
