307w ago - Speaking in a recent interview, Evan Wells of Naughty Dogs was discussing the success of Uncharted for the PS3. As well as lavishing praise on the PS3 and the importance of the team hiring the correct people, Wells remarked that they should be able to do much more in future as their engine and development environment are now in place.
He stated the effort can now be focused on what they want to do rather than how to do it and believes that within 3 years leaps between games on the PS3 will be bigger than those experienced on the PS2.
To quote: VideoGamer.com: Finally, what more can gamers expect from Naughty Dog games in the future? What will PS3 games look like in 3 years time?
EW: Well everybody is back after a hard earned vacation and the team is ready to dive into our next project. The most exciting thing for Naughty Dog's future is the strength of the team that we have assembled and the technology that we have in place as we embark on our next game.
We should be able to do so much more this time around, given the fact that we aren't trying to build our engine and development environment at the same time we are trying to make a game. The effort can be much more focused on what we want to do, instead of how we want to do it. As for what games will look like in 3 years,...
308w ago - StreamMyGame announced today the release of its free Linux Player, an application that enables you to play any PC game via a PlayStation 3 running Linux.
The free StreamMyGame Server enables PC games to be played remotely by converting the game's video and audio into a Game Stream and sending it over a home network to a second computer where you can view and play the game with the free StreamMyGame Player.
The second computer can be a PC, laptop, PS3 or Linux device. The game can be played on the second computer without any lag and the second computer does not need to have the game installed.
The StreamMyGame Server is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and all computer games based on Microsoft's DirectX8, DirectX9, DirectX10 including the latest games such as PES 2008 and Crysis and OpenGL standards.
The StreamMyGame Player is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Linux with resolutions up to Super HDTV 3200 x 2400. Compatible Linux installations include Ubuntu and Yellow Dog Linux, recommended by Sony for the PS3.
"Playing the latest PC game on the PS3 is now a reality at HD resolution and fast frame-rates," said Richard Faria CEO. "I have a PS3 in my living room and PC in my office and my two kids both have old PCs in their...
316w ago - Sony has confirmed to Eurogamer that all PlayStation 2 titles that support rumble and are compatible with PS3 will also rumble if you use the new DualShock 3 pad.
During last week's hands-on with the new controller, we noted that PS2 rumble seemed to be disabled. Since then, PS3 firmware 2.0 has quietly introduced support.
The news from Sony adds to anecdotal evidence from eager importers who reported success getting rumble out of games like Rez and Katamari Damacy.
PlayStation 3 games that already support the pad include MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction.
So, another reason to put one on your shopping list, although you might have to wait a while if you opt for an import - the demand, not to mention price, seems pretty high. The official European and US release date for DualShock 3 is spring 2008.

318w ago - In a recent forum post by Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games, he states that the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 is running top notch and that PlayStation 3 owners will be in for a treat.
"I was playing the PS3 build for a few hours tonight and it is really, really fantastic. Amazingly smooth and solid. I think you PS3 users are in for a huge treat with UT3," said Mark Rein.
One of the best features about the PS3 version is the ability to download user maps created via the PlayStation Network. However without the PC version, players will not have access to a level editor, and must wait for PC users to upload their maps.
In addition, Epic Games has confirmed that the PS3 version will support both a keyboard and mouse and the SIXAXIS/DualShock 3 controller.
