Metrico on PS Vita: Infographics and Input Morphing Detailed

50°
35w ago - Digital Dreams Level Designer Roy van de Mortel shared some concept art and details today on both infographics and input morphing in Metrico on PS Vita below.

To quote: It has been a while since we announced Metrico, so we are very excited to finally be able to share some more insights into the development and current state of Metrico.

We have been working very hard the last couple of months to make sure we now have a playable version, so people can experience what Metrico is about for the first time.

We announced Metrico at GDC San Francisco back in March with an announcement teaser, which was well received. But we knew that the next time we showed something to the press and you guys, we obviously would have to show more than the abstract video, aimed at introducing the game.

Metrico is a mysterious world, so we decided to keep it a bit vague with the teaser. We have a lot more to show since last March, so we'd like to take a moment and explain what type of a game Metrico is.

In Metrico the player needs to traverse the game world, which is built from all sorts of infographics, like bar diagrams, pie charts, line graphs, etc. These infographics constantly change based on your actions,...

Divetips: Divekick PS3 and PS Vita Strategies from EVO's Top 3

50°
35w ago - Divekick Creator Adam "Keits" Heart shared some Divekick PS3 and PS Vita divetips strategies with fans today from EVO's Top 3 below.

To quote: Divekick is out on PS3 and PS Vita Tuesday! By now, many of you are starting to realize just how deep and competitive this game really is.

Online ranked play is going to be filled with killers in no time, so to help you get a head start, we've compiled a few tips from the top 3 finishers at EVO 2013. Additionally, we've included a quick character bio for our final fighter, Kenny, to complement our first two roster updates.

5 Tips from EVO Champion Mean Saltine

1. Know your spacing. Every character in the game has a different angle on their divekick. It is critical that you know how close you can get to your opponent without getting kicked in the face. You know you are at the perfect range when you can react to an opponents attack with an attack of your own.

2. Be patient. It might seem natural to go crazy with your divekicks, but it is much more effective to wait for your opponent to make a mistake before you strike. Playing too aggressive is very dangerous against patient opponents!

3. Use your special moves. Every character has two special abilities in the game. Sometimes knowing when...

Video: Sony Introduces PlayStation Vita Pets, Coming in 2014

200°
35w ago - Spiral House Creative Director Kevin Oxland has officially introduced PlayStation Vita Pets on Sony's blog today, confirming the PS Vita title is coming in 2014.

To quote: Hey everyone! My name is Kevin Oxland and I'm creative director at Spiral House. I'm very excited to be here today to finally announce our new game with Sony for the PlayStation Vita. Please welcome PlayStation Vita Pets!

PlayStation Vita Pets is no ordinary pet game! We've done our best to really make this feel like a PlayStation game - with 'game' being the important word there. We set out to make something that was more than just a pet sim - we wanted to make something that felt like a real game, with characters, fun and adventure, so that's exactly what we did.

We also wanted to focus on the dogs themselves, which may seem an obvious thing to say, but making them move, act and speak (!) in a very convincing way for the scope of the game we had in mind, was not easy.

Making humans walk and move realistically in videos games is one thing, but creating truly convincing dogs for today's demanding younger gamers, really is something else. This, we felt, could only be achieved using the power and features of the...
