Sony Goes Hands-on with Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita

100°
101w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: I recently spent some hands-on time with a near-complete version of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita, ahead of its October 23rd PSN and retail launch.

And I've gotta say, it's the spitting image of its PS3 bigger brother with big, bold characters and detailed backgrounds running at PS Vita's native screen resolution. But peer underneath those pretty graphics and you'll find a wealth of new extras that make this the definitive version of Capcom's crossover fighter.

The game comes equipped with every DLC fighter from the PS3 version - including PlayStation exclusives Cole McGrath, Kuro, Toro, Mega Man and Pac-Man, of course - as well as alternate costumes for every character in the base roster.

Another nice touch is the ability to customize your character's costume color, then share it with friends via PS Vita's integrated geo-social app "near." It's also worth noting that any DLC costumes or Gems you purchased for the PS3 version will port over to the PS Vita version at no extra cost.

PS Vita's front touchscreen is leveraged in several ways, most notably to create virtual buttons on the screen that you can reposition, resize,...

101w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has detailed a Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 Q&A for PlayStation Vita fans today!

To quote: The PS Vita version of 2007′s PlayStation 3 dice 'em up Ninja Gaiden Sigma was satisfying evidence of just how comfortable a full, lightning-fast console action game can feel on a handheld.

Duly, Team Ninja's announcement last month that a sequel - Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus - is currently in development came as very welcome news.

PlayStation.Blog sat down for a quick chat with Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi to find out what it has in store with its new Vita game, as well as mysterious new project Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z and recent release Dead or Alive 5.

PlayStation.Blog: It's not been long since the release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus. Why are we seeing a sequel so soon?

Yosuke Hayashi, Team Ninja: We released Sigma Plus earlier this year and it actually did better than we expected, and there was a lot of fan demand for releasing a sequel. We were really happy with the results we got with the original, so that's why we're announcing Sigma 2 Plus.

PSB: What new features are you adding over and above the PlayStation 3 original?

YH: PlayStation Vita is definitely an easy console to play games...

Video: SunFlowers Shines on PlayStation Vita Tuesday for $3.99

50°
102w ago - The Game Atelier Lead Designer Dr Lakav has shared a fresh video trailer today announcing that SunFlowers will shine on PlayStation Vita this coming Tuesday for $3.99.

To quote: Good news, everyone: we have an official date for SunFlowers - next Tuesday, October 9th for $3.99!

SunFlowers is a brand new puzzle-shooter game for PS Vita, including two unique worlds: Classic and Tropical. Each world has more than 160 flowers to collect.

Now let's take a closer look at the second world from SunFlowers: Tropical. In this world you will discover new varieties of flowers, including pirate-themed blossoms, but every flower is still based on a real existing species.

When you play on this tropical island, you will quickly discover that the climate is very different from the Classic world, and the weather can be unpredictable. From the tropical rain flooding your flowers to the big sand dune that dries them out, you will need to be very careful if you want to keep them all alive.

There is even a dusk stage where every cloud and flower is backlit, so you'll need to hold your PS Vita close to a light source if you want to clearly see what is happening.

See you on Tuesday for the release...

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock on PlayStation Vita This Tuesday

100°
102w ago - BBC Worldwide Executive Producer Simon Harris has announced today that Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will be hitting PlayStation Vita this Tuesday.

To quote: In response to many, many questions from PS Vita owners, I'm delighted to officially announce that the PS Vita version of Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will be available to download from the PlayStation Store next week on October 9th in the US and October 10 in Europe!

The PS Vita version of the game will have several new features that we've been working on the past few months.

One example are the new PS Vita controls, which utilize the combination of the dual analog stick controls and PS Vita's touchscreen features, enabling players to switch between the more traditional controls and the ability to tap the screen to affect the action. All of the puzzle games within the game have been reworked to make full use of touchscreen controls as well.

We're also tapping into "near", PS Vita's geo-social service. Using "near", players can collect "Gallifreyan" medals while playing through the adventure and then drop them in a GPS location for other players to collect. Grow your collection while searching for other players' medals!

We'll also support PS Vita's Cloud Save option for players who own Doctor Who: The...
